FIRST ON FOX: Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a Brazilian illegal immigrant, who authorities say previously served as the commander of two designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations, after allegedly attempting to flee a North Carolina traffic stop while preparing to escape to Mexico.

Felipe Linares de Oliveira Dell Aquilla, known as “Don,” was arrested June 5 in Mooresville, North Carolina, after allegedly leading law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash before his arrest, according to a Department of Homeland Security press release obtained by Fox News Digital.

Federal authorities say Dell Aquilla was wanted in Brazil on charges of criminal association and extortion and had been preparing to leave the United States for Mexico.

Dell Aquilla previously served as a commander within the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho (CV), two Brazil-based criminal organizations that were recently designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations by the Trump administration, according to DHS.

“This arrest demonstrates the unwavering commitment of HSI to protect our communities from dangerous international criminals,” Mark M. Zito, special agent in charge of HSI in North and South Carolina, said in an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital.

“By removing a known leader of violent foreign terrorist organizations — wanted for serious crimes including criminal association and extortion — we have prevented further harm to innocent people here and abroad,” Zito said.

Law enforcement intelligence indicated Dell Aquilla was holding his wife against her will as he plotted his escape to Mexico. Authorities said investigators later interviewed his wife, who confirmed she had been held against her will.

Investigators said Dell Aquilla led authorities on a pursuit after officers initiated a traffic stop. The chase ended when he crashed into stopped traffic and allegedly attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of multiple cellphones, laptops, cash and a 9 mm handgun, according to DHS.

“Our agents, working alongside dedicated state and local law enforcement partners, acted swiftly and decisively to ensure this individual will no longer threaten the safety of our neighborhoods,” Zito said.

“HSI will continue to pursue those who endanger our communities and bring them to justice.”

Dell Aquilla was transported to a county jail and faces a state felony charge of fleeing to elude arrest. HSI is pursuing additional charges of kidnapping and being an alien in possession of a firearm, according to DHS. ICE has also lodged a detainer on him.

Dell Aquilla illegally entered the United States “at an unknown date and location,” according to federal authorities.

Florida sues TikTok, claiming it violates state child safety law

    2026-06-15 18:54:37 UTC / Reuters

June 15 (Reuters) – Florida’s attorney general sued TikTok on Monday over claims it is violating the state’s law barring social media platforms from allowing children under age 14 ‌to create accounts.

In the lawsuit, filed in state court in St. Lucie County, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, a Republican, accuses TikTok of violating the law by allowing underage users to access the platform and misrepresenting the amount of violent or sexual content young users can be exposed to.

Jumpstart your morning with the latest legal news delivered straight to your inbox from The Daily Docket newsletter. Sign up here.

“TikTok knowingly deceives parents and allows children to be exposed to harmful and inappropriate content in direct violation of Florida law,” Uthmeier said in a statement. “We have zero tolerance for companies that prioritize profit over children’s safety.”

The lawsuit seeks a court order directing the platform, which is owned by ByteDance, to make changes to bring it into compliance with the law, as well as financial damages, according to the filing.

A spokesperson for TikTok said in a statement that the company has been engaging with the attorney general and has informed users under 14 in Florida that their accounts will be suspended. The company is continuing to update its platform in Florida in response to state law, the spokesperson said.

“We are evaluating the state’s complaint and are prepared to defend our strong record on minor safety,” the spokesperson added.

TikTok is facing lawsuits from more than 25 state attorneys general across the country over claims it is designed to be addictive to young users, leading to a mental health crisis among children and teens. Most of the lawsuits have been brought under state consumer protection laws.

TikTok, Facebook and Instagram parent Meta Platforms (META.O), and other social media companies are facing thousands of lawsuits brought by ‌individuals and school districts over their impact on young users. The companies have denied the allegations and say they take extensive steps to keep teens and young users safe on their platforms.

In the first trial, in a case brought by a young woman who said she suffered from depression and anxiety after becoming addicted to the platforms at a young age, a jury in Los Angeles found Meta and Alphabet’s GOOGL.O Google negligent.

TikTok, which was also a defendant, settled with the woman before trial. The company also settled another case before trial, brought by a Kentucky school district, agreeing to pay $8 million.

The law cited in Florida’s lawsuit, known as H.B. 3, requires social media platforms to bar users under the age of 14 and requires users under 16 to get parental consent before opening an account. It took effect in January 2025.

In 2025, Florida sued Snap SNAP.N, the owner of Snapchat, accusing it of illegally employing features that addict children and opening accounts for children aged 13 and younger.

Florida called Snap’s conduct “particularly egregious” because the Santa Monica, California-based company markets Snapchat as safe for 13-year-olds, even though it can be used to view pornography and buy drugs, among other harmful activities.

The case against Snap, which said the law infringes on children’s rights under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, is ongoing, court records show.

A Florida federal judge later blocked enforcement of the law, saying it was unconstitutional. That ruling has been temporarily halted, allowing Florida to enforce it while it fights the judge’s ruling in an appeals court.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday said that the Justice Department is investigating him and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, under orders from President Donald Trump.

“After calling for my arrest last year, Donald Trump directed his Department of Justice to investigate me,” he said in a video statement. “And just in the last week, I’ve learned his campaign has reached my own home: to get me, he’s coming after my wife, Jen.”

The governor also claimed the investigation is intended to undermine any potential White House bid he may pursue in the future.

Sources familiar told Fox News that the investigation has been ongoing since 2025 and that the probe is based on whistleblower complaints related to Newsom and his wife’s personal finances. The case is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento.

“Donald Trump isn’t just coming after me because of my mean Tweets. He’s coming after me because I am considering running for President,” he said. “Because he hates that I’ve consistently called him out – over and over again – for his lies and deceit. Donald Trump is simply the most corrupt President in American history.”

Newsom’s wife, Jennifer, is a documentary filmmaker who runs The Representation Project, a nonprofit organization that seeks to advance feminism through media production. The charity has attracted “pay-for-play” allegations, with critics claiming that corporations with business interests in California donate to the organization to gain influence over Newsom.

″One by one, anyone who has challenged Donald Trump has ended up on his hit list,” Newsom said in a video statement. “And today, I proudly join that list.”

Since Trump took office, the DOJ has set its sights on a number of Trump’s foes. Among them are former FBI Director James Comey, former National Security Advisor John Bolton, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Sen. Adam Schiff, and former Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

Trump and Newsom have engaged in a number of high-profile clashes in recent years.

In November 2025, for instance, Trump nationalized the California National Guard to address anti-immigration enforcement protests in Los Angeles, prompting Newsom to sue to regain control of the forces. The two have repeatedly traded blows over issues such as crime, homelessness and environmental issues.

LOS ANGELES, June 15 (Reuters) – California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday accused President Donald Trump of directing the Justice Department to undertake a politically motivated investigation of ‌him and his wife.

“Donald Trump isn’t just coming after me because of my mean tweets,” Newsom said in a video statement posted to X. “He’s coming after me because I am considering running for President.”

The Justice Department and the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Newsom said federal agents had in recent days been knocking on the door of members of his family, friends and former employees demanding records and digging through years-old documents.

“Not because they found a crime. Because they are simply trying to find one,” he said.

Speaking directly to Trump in the video, Newsom said: “You can subpoena my records. You can investigate me. You can harass me. Put my name on every and any enemy’s list you have, but leave my wife and family out of your personal vendetta.”

Newsom and Trump have long been critical of each other, clashing on major issues including climate change, ‌pipelines and the Republican president’s deployment of National Guard troops to the state last summer.

Last year, Trump said he would support Newsom being arrested over his alleged obstruction of immigration enforcement in California.

Since Trump returned to office for a second term, his Justice Department has targeted several of the president’s perceived political enemies with criminal prosecution, pursuing criminal charges against former FBI director James Comey, New York state Attorney General Letitia James and former National Security Adviser John Bolton.

The department has also opened investigations into U.S. officials who concluded that Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election to boost Trump’s first campaign, Democratic lawmakers who urged U.S. military personnel to refuse unlawful orders and liberal donors and fundraising groups.

A tally by Reuters published in November 2025 revealed at least 470 people, organizations and institutions had been targeted for retribution since the beginning of Trump’s second term.

Iran agreement: Bad, BATNA or both?

    2026-06-15T16:10:03.723Z / CNN

    • The Iran agreement may reflect concessions on sanctions and waterway management that the Trump administration previously ruled out.
    • The concept of BATNA suggests President Donald Trump may have accepted an imperfect deal because the alternatives appeared worse than the available terms.
    • Iran’s model in such negotiations depends on controlling leverage over assets and setting a price rather than seeking compromise.

AI-generated summary was reviewed by a CNN editor.

Brett McGurk is a CNN global affairs analyst who served in senior national security positions under Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

As the debate over a possible Iran agreement shifts from whether there will be a deal to what is in it, commentary is already racing ahead of the facts. We have not yet seen the text. We do not know the precise commitments, timelines or enforcement mechanisms — if any.

But based on what has emerged publicly, the administration appears to have conceded some positions it previously foreclosed — on sanctions and even long-term management of the Strait of Hormuz.

If so, many will conclude that President Donald Trump retreated on unfavorable terms.

Why might he have done so? It is worth considering a basic concept from negotiation theory: BATNA, or the best alternative to a negotiated agreement.

The question is simple: What happens if there is no deal? It’s one that diplomats ask when negotiations reach a decision-point.

Judging the agreement — and the alternatives

Last week, the talks appeared deadlocked. The decision was likely emerging as whether to walk away or to concede on some of Iran’s terms.

BATNA teaches that if walking away leaves you no worse off — or even strengthens your leverage for a future negotiation — then rejecting an unsatisfactory agreement may make sense. But if failure of talks leaves you in a worsening position, then even a flawed agreement becomes attractive.

That appears to be the debate Trump faced.

Those favoring an agreement likely pointed to mounting economic pressure from disruptions in Gulf shipping, rising energy prices, uncertainty in global markets, and the growing risk of military escalation. The alternatives to conceding on key terms were likely military escalation — and risk of Iran attacking Gulf infrastructure, worsening the economic pressure — or simply enduring the stand-off as energy demands began to peak and supplies tightened.

Those arguing against an agreement likely saw a different picture. Oil prices remained at manageable levels. A US-led maritime corridor through the strait was beginning to function. Iran’s economy was under increasing strain from sanctions and disruption to its oil exports. Time, in their view, was working against Tehran rather than Washington.

Trump appears to have accepted the former argument. If current reporting is accurate, he may have concluded that an imperfect deal was preferable to the alternatives before him.

And with Iran, there is another lesson that goes beyond BATNA.

I would take the “N” out entirely. Because there is often only one available deal.

I learned that lesson during negotiations for American hostages held by Tehran. In a hostage negotiation, Iran’s model is rarely based on compromise. It is based on possession. Tehran acquires something valuable, refuses to give it back, and then sets a price.

Meet the price and the hostage goes free. Refuse and the hostage remains captive. Iran knows it well.

The same logic appears to have shaped these negotiations.

Iran effectively gained leverage over one of the world’s most important waterways through threats to commercial shipping and energy flows. The central question was never whether Washington preferred Iran’s terms. The question was whether Washington was willing to pay the price required to reopen the strait.

Absent a viable alternative to a deal, the leverage in such a negotiation favored Iran.

As the details emerge, we’ll learn more about the extent of American concessions and Iranian commitments.

    The key questions are straightforward:

    • What real commitments — if any — has Iran made on its nuclear program?
    • What sanctions relief is being granted?
    • Will frozen Iranian money will be released — and when?
    • Will the strait return to status quo ante, or is Iran asserting its control with fees?
    • What precisely has been promised to Iran on Lebanon?

The answers will determine whether this was a defensible judgment call (the BATNA) or a series of concessions that may set the stage for a future war with a weakened — but emboldened — Islamic Republic.

Trump in G7 summit in France as he touts signing of Iran memorandum

    June 15, 2026 / 2:27 PM EDT / CBS News

By President Trump arrived in France for the Group of Seven summit on Monday, as the Trump administration announces the signing of a truce with Iran.

As the president began a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, President Trump announced the memorandum of understanding with Iran is “all signed,” and significant progress will happen soon on opening the Strait of Hormuz.

“The deal’s all signed,” the president said in France alongside Macron. “And the strait is already partially opened.” The president said they’ll be “doing a little hunting” for mines in the strait to make sure it’s safe for ships. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said earlier this month that the U.S. will help with the clearing of the mines, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Sunday on “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan” that he believes the process of reopening the Strait of Hormuz can begin “immediately.”

Macron on Monday congratulated the president on the memorandum signing. Ahead of Mr. Trump’s meeting with Macron, a senior administration official said Mr. Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf all signed the deal. But Mr. Trump said Monday that the text of the deal may not be released until “after sometime after Friday,” which is the day the signing ceremony is expected to take place. The president said he may not be there, but Vance will be.

This year’s G7 summit, which is comprised of the world’s seven leading industrialized nations, is in Evian-les-Bains, France, an alpine town on the shores of Lake Geneva.

The Iran memorandum is sure to come up in the leaders’ conversations this week. A senior administration official told reporters in another call over the weekend that once the deal goes forward, there is much the other G7 countries have said they could do.

The official said Britain and France, for instance, may be able to have ships in the Strait of Hormuz to help with its reopening and the removal of mines. Lingering questions remain about exactly how to extract and destroy the enriched uranium still in Iran’s possession, how safe the strait will be, and how inspections in Iran might take place are another example, the official said.

The signing of the memorandum is expected to kick off 60 days of negotiations for a final deal.

Iran won’t be the only topic at this week’s summit. Economic growth, supply chain resilience, addressing illegal immigration, and the adoption of artificial intelligence technology will also be top topics for the president, the senior administration official told reporters. Ukraine will also be a topic of discussion, according to the president’s schedule.

After his meeting with Macron, Mr. Trump joined a working dinner with other G7 leaders. The G7 consists of the U.S., France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom. The European Union is also a permanent, “non-enumerated” member of the group.

On Tuesday, the president is scheduled to:

    • Join a working session with other G7 leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenekyy
    • Hold a bilateral meeting with with Qatar’s emir
    • Hold a bilateral meeting with the president of the United Arab Emirates
    • Join a working lunch with G7 leaders and Middle East leaders
    • Attend another working session of G7 leaders and G7 partner countries on international development

On Wednesday, the president is scheduled to:

    • Hold a bilateral meeting with Egypt’s president
    • Hold a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
    • Join a meeting with G7 leaders on tech innovation and AI
    • Attend dinner at the Palace of Versailles with Macron

The president is expected to depart France on Wednesday.

    blob:https://www.cbsnews.com/b793d2db-2aa2-451d-9d73-87dd945e2441

California Gov. Gavin Newsom says Justice Department is investigating him and his wife

Washington — California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday that he and his wife are under investigation by the Justice Department.

In a video posted to X, Newsom said federal agents have sought to speak to his family, friends and former employees, demanded records and dug through years of documents. He accused the Justice Department under President Trump of “abusing the grand jury process.”

“Donald Trump isn’t just coming after me because of my mean tweets,” Newsom said. “He’s coming after me because I’m considering running for president, because he hates that I consistently called him out over and over again for his lies and deceit. Donald Trump is simply the most corrupt president in American history.”

Newsom cited other perceived political enemies of Mr. Trump, including New York Attorney General Letitia James, former FBI Director James Comey and former Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, who have been investigated by the Justice Department. The governor said he has joined the president’s “hit list.”

“After calling for my arrest last year, Donald Trump directed his Department of Justice to investigate me, and just in the last week I’ve learned that his campaign has reached my own home. To get me, he’s coming after my wife,” the California governor said.

It’s unclear what Newsom and his wife, Jennifer, are under investigation for, and the governor did not provide details about what information or documents investigators have sought.

“To Donald Trump, who I know is watching, because he watches everything, I have a message for you,” he said. “You can subpoena my records, you can investigate me, you can harass me, put my name on every and any enemies list you have, but leave my wife and family out of your personal vendetta.”

    blob:https://www.cbsnews.com/b793d2db-2aa2-451d-9d73-87dd945e2441

Newsom is a frequent and vocal critic of Mr. Trump’s, and in his social media video, the governor accused the president of corruption and seeking to profit off the presidency.

Mr. Trump, in turn, often attacks the California governor, calling him “dumb” and referring to him by the derogatory nickname “Newscum.”

An investigation into Newsom would be the latest by the Justice Department targeting public officials who have opposed the president.

The former interim U.S. attorney in eastern Virginia sought and secured indictments against James and Comey last year, but a judge dismissed the charges after finding the prosecutor, Lindsey Halligan, was unlawfully appointed. Comey was indicted a second time in North Carolina over a now-deleted photo he shared to Instagram last year that depicted seashells arranged to say “86 47.” He has denied wrongdoing.

Federal prosecutors also investigated Powell, then the Fed chairman, and renovations of the central bank’s Washington, D.C., headquarters earlier this year. Mr. Trump had often lambasted Powell over interest rate decisions, and suggested that the renovation project could be grounds to fire him. But the probe was dropped in April after a key senator vowed to block the confirmation of Mr. Trump’s pick to succeed Powell as Fed chair as long as the investigation remained active.

President Trump stated four objectives at the beginning of the war in Iran. How many have been accomplished so far?

    Inside Politics

CNN global affairs analyst Karim Sadjadpour says Trump had four major goals when he launched the war in Iran: obliterating Iran’s nuclear program; razing its missile program down to the ground; defanging its regional proxies; and potentially unseating the Iranian regime. He says the framework for a deal—that Trump says was signed yesterday—is “a resolution that has not resolved any of the major sources of tension.”
