WASHINGTON, June 10 (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he expects top artificial intelligence companies to agree to “giving ‌back” to the public, an apparent reference to a possible government stake in the firms.

“I’m going to have meetings with the top 12 or 15 executives very shortly, and we’re talking about giving back something to the public, and if we do that, the public will become very rich,” Trump told reporters in the White House’s Oval Office. “I think they’ll do that, and I think it’ll make it very popular.”

Concern is growing among Americans about AI negatively impacting their lives. Half of Americans fear that the rise of AI could put them or someone in their household out of work, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll completed on Monday.

AI companies Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and Meta did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A White ‌House official declined to comment on who would participate in the meeting Trump described in the Oval Office.

OpenAI is targeting a valuation of up to $1 trillion, Reuters previously reported. An agreement to give the U.S. government equity stakes could have a massive impact on the U.S. government’s finances. OpenAI in April publicly proposed creating a “public wealth fund” to invest in AI companies, according to a company statement. Proceeds from the fund would be “distributed directly to citizens,” according to the company.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, a Trump critic who sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 and 2020, has expressed support for the idea. Trump said last week that his team would look into it.

U.S. Embassy in Mexico warns Americans of safety risks ahead of World Cup

The U.S. Embassy in Mexico released a warning for American tourists traveling to the country as part of the World Cup.

The World Cup is being held in the U.S., Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19. Thirteen games will be held in Mexico, according to FIFA, the governing body for the international event.

The embassy said that because safety risks in Mexico can “vary greatly by region,” each Mexican state has been given its own travel advisory by the U.S. State Department. The embassy recommended any travelers attending World Cup games look up the advisories and take the appropriate precautions.

Monterrey, in the state of Nuevo León, will host four games at the Estadio Monterrey. Another four games will be held at Estadio Guadalajara, in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Five other games will be played at Mexico City Stadium, in the country’s capital. Mexico City is an autonomous region and is not part of any state, but still has a ranking from the State Department.

Mexico’s government previously said that nearly 100,000 troops are being deployed to guarantee security in the three host cities.

Mexico City and Nuevo León are considered to be areas where travelers should “exercise increased caution.” In Mexico City, tourists should be on alert for terrorism and crime, the State Department said. Terrorist groups, cartels, gangs and criminal organizations may pose a threat, and tourists may be targets of crime. Visitors should stick to popular tourist areas and exercise additional caution, especially if out at night.

In Nuevo León, visitors should again be aware of risks of terrorism and crime, as well as kidnapping. Highways 85/85D, 54, and 40/40D have been the site of armed robberies and carjackings, and travelers should not use these routes after dark, the State Department said. Tourists driving from the U.S. border to Monterrey should also be careful while driving through the neighboring states of Coahuila or Tamaulipas. Tamaulipas is subject to a “do not travel’ warning, the most severe advisory issued by the State Department.

U.S. citizens should “reconsider travel” to Jalisco, the State Department said. Terrorism, crime and kidnapping are threats in the southern state, and disputes between terrorist groups, cartels and other criminal organizations have occurred in tourist areas in the past, endangering or even killing bystanders. Over 70 people, including 25 members of Mexico’s National Guard, were killed in Jalisco after an operation to capture cartel leader “El Mencho” led to his death in February 2026. Jalisco is also the state most affected by Mexico’s missing persons crisis.

Just 1 in 10 Europeans now view the U.S. as an ally, according to new poll: “Collapse in faith”

    June 10, 2026 / 1:25 PM EDT / CBS News

    By Frank Andrews

Frank Andrews is a CBS News journalist based in London.

Just one in every 10 Europeans now sees the U.S. as an ally, according to a major new poll conducted by the European Council on Foreign Relations across 15 European countries.

In what the think tank described as a “collapse in European faith in the U.S.,” only 11% of the nearly 20,000 European respondents now consider America an ally, down from 16% six months ago and 22% in November 2024.

Half of those polled view the U.S. as a “necessary partner,” while 25% see America as a rival or an adversary. The percentage of respondents who view the U.S. as a rival or an adversary grew in several countries, especially Denmark, France, Spain and Switzerland.

The authors of a policy brief sharing the results of the poll cited recent actions by President Trump as likely influencing respondents, including his threats to leave NATO and annex Greenland, striking Iran without including European nations in the planning, and planning the withdrawal of some U.S. troops in Europe.

Majorities in every country polled said they were not confident the U.S. would come to their nation’s aid if they came under attack.

And most said their governments should buy more weapons from European countries and develop an alternative national nuclear deterrent that doesn’t depend on the U.S.

“Across the continent, there’s clear support for reducing dependence on Washington,” Jana Kobzová, a co-author of the policy brief and ECFR senior policy fellow, told The Guardian.

The polling did suggest that Europeans believe their relationship with the U.S. will “probably get better” after Mr. Trump leaves office, however.

The ECFR spoke to 19,481 respondents for the survey, which was conducted in May 2026 in Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the U.K.

The U.S. embassy in London did not respond to a request for comment on the survey.

FIRST ON FOX: A left-wing nonprofit accused by the Department of Justice of secretly funding the extremism it claims to combat is facing a new threat from Capitol Hill.

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, introduced legislation Wednesday that would revoke the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) tax-exempt status, ramping up pressure on the civil rights nonprofit organization amid a federal probe into alleged financial crimes.

The measure’s introduction comes after Roy vowed Tuesday to target the law center’s tax-exempt status after grilling Bryan Fair, the SPLC’s interim chief executive, about its record of targeting mainstream conservative organizations during a contentious oversight hearing.

“The SPLC has built a business in smearing Christian conservatives and profiting from labeling its ideological opponents as ‘extremists’ and ‘hate groups,’” Roy said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital. “Tax-exempt status should be reserved for charitable organizations serving the public good — not groups engaged in partisan political warfare.”

FIRST ON FOX: SPLC’S LEGAL WOES GROW AS JIM JORDAN FIRES LATEST SALVO AT LEFT-WING GROUP

“The Stop SPLC Act would simply revoke the SPLC’s tax-exempt status and end the special tax benefits it has enjoyed for far too long,” he added.

A spokesperson for the nonprofit did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The legislation comes as the SPLC is accused of routing $4.1 million in tax-exempt donor funds to various extremist organizations — including the Ku Klux Klan and the United Klans of America — between 2010 and 2023, using fictitious accounts and committing bank fraud to conceal the payments.

The group has insisted its informant program “saved lives,” but federal prosecutors allege hate groups that received the donor money used a portion of it for recruitment purposes and to purchase materials, such as wood for cross burnings and KKK paraphernalia.

Fair has denied that the SPLC did anything wrong and largely declined to discuss the allegations Tuesday.

The law center has 501(c)(3) status as a nonprofit organization, which means financial contributions to the group are tax-deductible.

HOW MUTINY AT SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER TRIGGERED LEADERSHIP COLLAPSE

Roy’s bill could threaten the group’s flush finances, as donations surged during the period it operated the now-defunct informant program.

“Advancing hatred has become quite profitable for the SPLC, as in 2024, the organization had over $829 million in assets and an endowment of approximately $730.8 million and $120.9 million in revenue,” Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wy., said Tuesday. “The bulk of this money comes from the contributions of the SPLC donors.”

Turning Point USA, the Family Research Council and Moms for Liberty are among the conservative organizations listed on the law center’s annual “hate map” database alongside neo-Nazi and White supremacist groups.

GOP lawmakers pressed Fair Tuesday about those designations and the notable omission of leftist groups.

“How many leftist anti-Jewish groups do you have listed on your website,” Roy asked Fair. “How many extremist Islamic groups do you have?”

Fair did not name an organization that fit either criteria, prompting Roy to suggest that the left-wing nonprofit intentionally targets conservative Christian groups.

“So you think there’s a bunch of Islamic groups that are pro-LGBTQ?” the Texas lawmaker then asked Fair, triggering laughs from the hearing room. “Is that the position of the SPLC? I just want to make sure the record is reflecting that.”

“We target no group or label … because of its religion,” Fair insisted.

Fair also defended the law center’s decision to designate Turning Point, a conservative youth activism powerhouse founded by the late Charlie Kirk, as an extremist organization.

“It is our position that TPUSA expresses views and vilifies other people based on immutable characteristics, exposing them to our listing,” Fair told Roy.

Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk slammed Fair’s comments during a post on social media Tuesday.

“Turning Point USA has, from the beginning, stood for open conversations and respectful debate regardless of creed or color,” Kirk, the wife of the late Charlie Kirk, said. “All along, the real hate group is the SPLC, which recklessly sows hate every day with its lies.”

Roy has also introduced legislation to revoke the tax-exempt status of the national Muslim advocacy group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), but the bill has since stalled in committee. Republicans have sharply criticized the nonprofit over alleged ties to terrorism.

FIRST ON FOX:The Trump administration is lifting the hood on federal health benefits programs that cover millions of Americans, ordering insurance carriers to tighten fraud controls as part of a broader crackdown on waste and abuse, Fox News Digital learned.

“Working alongside the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, OPM is taking additional steps to safeguard the premiums paid by federal employees and taxpayers, protect beneficiaries, and ensure health insurance companies are meeting the highest standards of accountability,” said Office of Personnel Management (OPM) director Scott Kupor to Fox News Digital.

OPM functions as the federal government’s human resources agency, overseeing civilian personnel policy and administering benefits for federal employees, retirees and their families.

OPM, partnered with the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, is sending new compliance expectations on Wednesday to insurance carriers in the Federal Employees Health Benefits and Postal Service Health Benefits programs, directing them to strengthen fraud prevention, payment reviews, pharmacy benefit oversight, subcontractor accountability, audits and reporting, Fox News Digital learned.

The push also targets pharmacy benefit managers, the drug-pricing middlemen that administer prescription drug benefits for health plans and negotiate with drugmakers and pharmacies.

The FEHB program cost the government and enrollees about $70 billion in fiscal 2024 and covered more than 8.2 million federal employees, family members and other eligible individuals, according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

“OPM is a valuable partner and leader on the Task Force. The steps taken today will protect taxpayers and our federal workforce,” White House Task Force Executive Director Scott Brady told Fox News Digital.

OPM is also building a data science and audit team with the agency’s inspector general to review anonymized claims data and detect fraud, waste and overbilling more proactively.

CMS directed all 50 states to submit plans to revalidate high-risk Medicaid providers, including providers subject to less rigorous enrollment standards or operating without a National Provider Identifier in April.

Vice President JD Vance, who is leading the task force, amplified the call in May, saying during a news conference that states could lose federal funding if they fail to aggressively pursue Medicaid fraud.

The push comes amid heightened focus on large-scale fraud cases, including Minnesota’s $250 million “Feeding Our Future” scheme, which became a national flashpoint in recent months.

Honda recalls more than 880,000 vehicles for suspension issue that could cause crashes

    June 10, 2026 / 12:40 PM EDT / CBS News

Honda is recalling 880,514 vehicles because the rear suspension components could fail, putting passengers at risk of injury or a crash, federal regulators said in a recall notice.

The recall affects the following models and years, which were sold in 23 states and the District of Columbia, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):

    • Honda Pilot, 2016-2022 model years
    • Ridgeline, 2017-2023
    • Passport, 2019-2023
    • Acura MDX, 2014-2020

    The states include:

    • Connecticut
    • Delaware
    • District of Columbia
    • Illinois
    • Indiana
    • Iowa
    • Kentucky
    • Maine
    • Maryland
    • Massachusetts
    • Michigan
    • Minnesota
    • Missouri
    • New Hampshire
    • New Jersey
    • New York
    • Ohio
    • Pennsylvania
    • Rhode Island
    • Vermont
    • Virginia
    • West Virginia
    • Wisconsin

Honda is issuing the recall because the rear subframe on the vehicles could corrode, potentially leading to suspension component failure. That can cause drivers to lose handling or control of the vehicle, NHTSA said in its notice. According to Honda’s estimate, only 1% of the vehicles contain the defect.

Letters notifying owners are expected to go out on July 7, 2026. Dealers will repair or replace the rear subframe components free of charge.

The NHTSA recall number is 26V365000.

US shortens cyber fix window to three days as AI threats rise

WASHINGTON, June 10 (Reuters) – The U.S. cyber defense agency said on Wednesday that government officials now have three days to deal with the most ‌serious categories of digital vulnerabilities in their networks, a compressed timeline that is due in part to hackers’ use of artificial intelligence.

The deadline, which was set in a new directive, opens new tab issued by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, obligates civilian federal agencies with vulnerable software or equipment to fix, disable, or remove it from the internet within three calendar days, depending on the severity of the threat.

Many cyber experts worry that new, more advanced AI models along the lines of Anthropic’s Mythos are supercharging hackers’ abilities to take advantage of digital vulnerabilities across the internet, forcing tech workers to plug security holes almost as soon as they are discovered.

“Defenders cannot afford to take weeks to patch systems that can be autonomously exploited ‌en masse,” CISA Acting Executive Assistant Director for Cybersecurity Chris Butera told reporters. He said the directive was “an initial step to counter the increased capabilities of those emerging AI models.”

Reuters first reported last month that U.S. officials were considering the adoption of a three-day deadline to deal with potentially dangerous flaws.

Even under the new directive, there is still more time to deal with less severe weaknesses, such as ones that are not easy for hackers and cybercriminals to automate, or do not concern publicly exposed digital infrastructure. An appendix to the order leaves two weeks to deal with many vulnerabilities and as long as two months for the least serious category of flaw.

UFO whistleblower claims billions in secret spending hidden from Congress

    2026-06-10 12:57:58 EDT / Fox News

Former intelligence officer urged the Defense Intelligence Agency to release documents for congressional review

House lawmakers seek immunity for UAP whistleblowers

House lawmakers plan to request immunity for UAP whistleblowers, while a report by Bret Baier examines early “foo fighter” sightings from World War II.

NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles!

Unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) whistleblower and former Air Force intelligence officer David Grusch accused intelligence agencies Tuesday of hiding billions of dollars in secret government spending from Congress, as lawmakers renewed demands for records they say federal officials continue to withhold.

His investigation uncovered what he described as “slush funds” — pools of money allegedly operating outside normal congressional oversight channels — worth billions of dollars annually that were allegedly used to support activities operating outside normal oversight channels, Grusch said speaking at a Capitol Hill event alongside members of the House Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets.

“This is also a real fraud, waste and abuse issue,” Grusch said. “During my investigation, I found slush funds to the tune of billions of dollars per annum for these activities.”

TASK FORCE TO EXPOSE ‘FEDERAL SECRETS’ ON JFK ASSASSINATION, EPSTEIN, UFOS PACKED WITH GOP REBELS

The allegations come as lawmakers and the Trump administration have intensified efforts to declassify government unidentified aerial phenomena records, releasing hundreds of pages of previously secret files and renewing pressure on agencies to disclose what they know about unexplained aerial incidents.

Grusch, who served on the Pentagon’s Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force and later as the National Reconnaissance Office’s representative to the task force, first gained national attention in 2023 when he testified before Congress about alleged government efforts to recover and study unidentified craft.

The Trump administration’s fiscal year 2027 budget includes nearly $132 billion in military and national intelligence spending, much of it contained in classified programs accessible only to a limited group of cleared officials and lawmakers.

Asked what the government knows about nonhuman intelligence, Grusch claimed the government is aware of “several” different alien species.

“It’s a continuum from corporeal bipedal type life to, you know, what I would consider is like sentient plasma life,” Grusch said. “But there are several that this government is aware of.”

He did not elaborate on the claim or provide evidence during the event.

U.S. Representative Eric Burlison (R-MO) speaks during a news conference on the declassification of federal secrets related to unidentified aerial phenomena on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., U.S., June 9, 2026.(Eric Lee/Reuters)

Grusch specifically accused the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Pentagon’s primary military intelligence agency, of obstructing congressional oversight efforts, arguing that records requested by lawmakers have not been fully provided despite what he described as lawful requests from Congress. He urged the agency to release additional documents for review and declassification.

The DIA could not immediately be reached for comment.

The Pentagon has consistently said investigations have not uncovered verified evidence of extraterrestrial technology, and previous government reviews have disputed claims that secret crash-retrieval programs exist.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers joined Grusch during the press conference, arguing that agencies have continued to resist congressional efforts to obtain information related to unidentified anomalous phenomena.

“We would ask questions, and they would then push back. We would ask more questions, and the pushback became more significant,” said Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla. “We would try to put language in an amendment, in a bill, and they would oppose it.”

“There must be real penalties for officials who knowingly withhold information from Congress,” added Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo.

UFO whistleblower Eric Grusch claims “billions” in taxpayer funding are going to secret UAP programs.(Eric Lee/Reuters:Department of War)

Moskowitz also tied the debate to broader concerns about Pentagon accountability.

“There’s trillions of dollars missing at the Pentagon. Where does that money go?” he said.

The Pentagon has failed seven consecutive annual audits, though defense officials have said those findings reflect longstanding challenges tracking assets and accounting systems across the department.

[REP TIM BURCHETT CONVINCED THAT ALIENS EXIST, SAYS HE’S ‘SEEN TOO MUCH’ IN GOVERNMENT BRIEFINGS]

A declassified image shows a UFO in flight against the sky.(Department of War)

Grusch said additional witnesses remain reluctant to come forward because of concerns about retaliation and legal exposure.

Burlison called on President Donald Trump to waive nondisclosure agreements for individuals with knowledge of alleged government UAP programs and grant immunity to those willing to testify.

“Grant immunity to anyone who has already come forward, and everyone who will come forward,” Burlison said. “Open the door and let them speak.”

“Congress is requesting specific records and videos,” Burlison added. “These agencies and contractors know that we know that they exist, and we’re going to get them released.”

Burlison said lawmakers have continued pressing agencies and defense contractors for records they believe remain classified despite recent disclosure efforts.

He said his office obtained MQ-9 footage of a UAP incident off the coast of Yemen that was delivered through what he described as a “Tom Clancy-style dead drop.”

Lawmakers argued that additional disclosures may depend on persuading more witnesses to come forward.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., who chairs the House task force examining the issue, said lawmakers are discussing immunity protections for individuals with knowledge of alleged craft locations, recovered materials or advanced technologies.

The renewed push comes as lawmakers seek greater access to information tied to some of the government’s most closely held programs.

Federal investigators recently alleged that former CIA official David Rush used a fraudulent “special access program” as part of a scheme involving more than $40 million in gold bars and millions in government funds, drawing renewed attention to how highly restricted government programs can operate with limited outside visibility.

[CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP]

The event comes weeks after the Trump administration released a major tranche of previously classified UAP records, including military reports, sensor data and witness accounts that had long remained hidden from public view.

Lawmakers and disclosure advocates have pointed to those releases as evidence the government is becoming more transparent about UAP investigations, while arguing that significant amounts of information remain classified.
