周三下午，唐纳德·特朗普总统开启了海军陆战队一号直升机起降的新流程：他的车队驱车前往白宫以南的公园椭圆广场，在此登上总统专机。
与总统们传统上走出白宫、在南草坪登机的方式相比，此次变更增加了多层面的协调与安保措施。但自5月以来，这片草坪就已对直升机关闭，当时特朗普开始为一场终极格斗冠军赛（UFC）的笼斗搭建赛场。
承包商正在草坪上修建一座新的永久直升机坪，特朗普希望能在9月中旬前完工，赶在中国国家主席习近平预计到访之前。
《华盛顿邮报》周二报道称，总统暂时将使用椭圆广场的临时起降区，这片公共公园同时也是白宫园区的一部分。

President Donald Trump on Wednesday afternoon kicked off his new process for flying Marine One: His motorcade drove to the Ellipse, a park just south of the White House, to board the presidential helicopter.
The change adds layers of coordination and security measures to how presidents have traditionally boarded Marine One — by walking out of the White House and entering the helicopter on the mansion’s South Lawn. But the lawn has been closed to helicopters since May, when Trump began constructing an arena for a UFC cage match.
Contractors are building a new permanent helipad on the lawn that Trump wants to finish by mid-September, ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s expected visit.
The Washington Post reported Tuesday that the president for now will use a temporary landing zone in the Ellipse, a public park that is also part of the White House grounds.
Trump on Wednesday departed for an event at the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
