A blackglove found near the Arizona home of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie appears to match those worn by the suspect seen in a doorbell camera video, according to the FBI.

The glove, which contains DNA evidence, was one of approximately 16 gloves collected by investigators in various areas near the house. Most of those gloves belonged to searchers who discarded them while working the area, the FBI said.

“The one with the DNA profile recovered is different and appears to match the gloves of the subject in the surveillance video,” the FBI said in a statement.

The FBI said it is waiting on the final results on the glove, which the agency said typically takes about 24 hours.

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show co-hostSavannah Guthrie, was last seen on Jan. 31 and was reported missing the following day, Feb. 1. Authorities believe she was abducted from her home in the middle of the night.

Last week, the FBIreleaseda description of theperson they referred to as a suspect: a man with an average build and an approximate height of 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10. They said he was wearing a black-colored 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack in the security video.

Authorities are still trying to find out who is behind a ransom note that was first sent to CBS News’ Tucson affiliate KOLD,demanding bitcoin. The Guthrie family, at one point, promised to pay despite receiving no proof of life and has released multiple video pleas for the return of their mother.

So far, investigators have searched at least two homes near Guthrie’s, according to multiple law enforcement sources. Law enforcement agencies, including a Pima County Sheriff SWAT team, descended on a residence less than 2 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home Friday evening.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told CBS affiliate KOLD that the activity was the result of following up on “a lead that led to a search warrant and no arrest.”

Nanos told KOLD that a traffic stop was made on a person of interest and that the individual was cooperative and later released. Another person said he wasdetained during a traffic stopsouth of Tucson last week and was also later released.

WASHINGTON, Feb 15 (Reuters) – The Democratic Party is willing to spend tens of millions on a Virginia redistricting effort that could gain the party four more seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, the chamber’s top Democrat said on Sunday.

Democrats will do “whatever it takes” to ensure a Virginia ballot initiative succeeds in an April voter referendum, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told CNN’s “State of the Union” program.

Their push for new voting maps in Virginia and Maryland to pick up more seats in Congress and offset similar Republican efforts is part of an increasingly partisan approach to redistricting ahead of November’s midterm elections.

Republicans, who currently hold a narrow majority in the House, have passed redistricting plans in Texas, Missouri, Ohio and North Carolina.

Voters in California approved a Democratic-backed redistricting measure. Some Democrats also hope to redraw the congressional map in Maryland to eliminate its sole Republican-held seat, but the state Senate president, Democrat Bill Ferguson, said there is not enough support in his chamber and that he does not plan to hold a vote on the bill.

Jeffries on Sunday said he had not recently spoken to Ferguson, but would have a conversation with him “at some point” if he continues to oppose the redistricting proposal.

The effort to redraw districts comes months ahead of November midterm elections where Democrats will try to wrest control of the U.S. Congress from Republicans. In response to a question about what Democrats would spend on the Virginia effort, Jeffries told CNN the party will do “whatever it takes” to win that April referendum.

The U.S. Supreme Court in 2019 stripped federal courts of their power to police partisan voting maps, opening the door to state-by-state battles to craft congressional districts. Last year, Republican President Donald Trump demanded that his party redraw the maps to their benefit, sparking a battle with Democrats who in turn adopted a more aggressive approach to the issue.

The Virginia Supreme Court said on Friday it would allow a Democratic-backed redistricting effort to head to a voter referendum in April.

“We’re striking back,” Jeffries told CNN. “We’re going to make sure that there’s a fair national map.”

U.S. Senator Thom Tillis, a Republican from North Carolina, said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” that he worried about his party’s ability to maintain control in the House, partly because of redistricting.

Rubio’s 3,000-word address marked one of the clearest articulations yet of Trump’s break with the global status quo. It underscored a broader shift in transatlantic ties, with Washington pressing European allies to shoulder more of their own defense and elevate national sovereignty.

He described the erosion of manufacturing, porous borders and dependence on global institutions as symptoms of Western complacency.

低价慢速的绿皮火车今年春运期间在中国舆论翻红，网络出现“2026年春运绿皮车严重超员、人满为患”的视频，中国国家铁路集团辟谣称，其中大部分是历史画面拼凑翻炒，部分是人工智能（AI）生成的不实信息。

据极目新闻报道，2026年的中国春运，似乎早已是“古董”的绿皮火车却意外“出圈”，很多旅客在社媒上发出的视频中，绿皮火车上坐得满满当当。在官方购票平台“12306”上检索，可以看到不少绿皮火车连续多日的车票都已抢购一空。

报道称，慢速的绿皮车之所以“翻红”，首先源于票价实惠。以湖北武汉到广东湛江为例，高铁票价779元（人民币，下同，142新元）起，绿皮硬座仅189元，“590元的差价，如果是一家三口出行，至少可以省下1000多元”。

报道形容：“候车大厅里，拎着编织袋的务工者，行李箱上挂颈枕的学生，两鬓斑白的老人，脸上都写着同样的踏实和期盼：这趟（绿皮）列车，能带他们回家。”

香港城市大学教授王江雨星期六（2月14日）在微博发文称：“绿皮车重新被看到，依然熙熙攘攘挤挤插插，情形一如30年前我上大学时候，并无多少改善。国之重器当然绝对重要，提高普通人的收入，也应该是重中之重，不要在一片‘厉害’声中强行不看或不允许看见。 ”

中国海洋大学教授王天定星期天（15日）也在微博发文说：“有些人对绿皮火车有诗意想象，但对于社会底层无数的父老乡亲，绿皮火车是最实惠的出行选择。”

中国铁路星期天晚则在多个官方社媒账号，发布题为《网传2026年春运绿皮车严重超员视频系历史画面拼凑翻炒的不实信息》的文章，并配以相关视频截图。截图中写道：“2026年最扎心的春运，高铁有余票，绿皮却秒空，飞机没想到，高铁没想到，专家更是没想到”。

文章称，经组织技术分析和专家鉴定，网传2026年春运绿皮车严重超员、人满为患的视频，大部分为历史画面拼凑翻炒、部分系AI生成的不实信息。“2026年春运，铁路部门严控列车超员、不断改进服务，保持了普速列车开行品质的稳定。”

中国铁路表示，今年春运以来，铁路部门在最大限度满足旅客出行需求的同时，严格控制发售普速列车无座票，保障旅客乘车体验。春运前13天（2月2日至2月14日），中国全国铁路普速列车平均客座率为73%。

文章还披露，在春运节前客流最高峰日（2月13日），中国全国铁路普速列车平均客座率77%，个别方向、少数列车超员。其中空调列车客座率大多数在130%以下，最高的是广州白云至湖南郴州的K6592次列车，为155%；非空调列车客座率最高的是浙江杭州至江西九江的K4279次列车，为116%。

中国铁路指出，2月21日至2月24日（正月初五至初八）的节后返程高峰时段，中国75%以上的普速列车尚有余票，主要包括大连至北京，济南至北京，哈尔滨至北京，郑州至上海，西安至上海，长沙至上海，南宁至广州，贵阳至广州，福州至广州等方向，铁路部门还将根据旅客需求及时调整运力。

中国交通运输部部长刘伟去年曾介绍，中国的高铁动车组在2024年的旅客发送量达32.72亿人次，已占铁路旅客发送量的75.9%。

“我记得我第一次来春到河畔的时候，还是在新加坡河畔……现在很多人问我，为什么叫‘春到河畔’，却在海边。”

今年将60岁的颜淑玲，是春到河畔活动的铁粉，从小到大来了不下20多次，也见证了春到河畔从无到有，成为本地年味必不可少的一部分。

听闻配合春到河畔40周年，主办方设立特展，展出几十年来的老照片，颜淑玲非常期待，“希望能看到一些年轻时的回忆”。

几年前退休后爱上摄影的她，星期天（2月15日）更是一早便来到滨海湾花园，占据能够拍到烟花秀和20米高财神爷的黄金位置。

谈到新年愿望时，颜淑玲说，希望能在动荡的时代中，继续安稳生活，“现在世界不太平，但我们很幸运可以在一个和平的国度，每年在这里相聚庆祝”。

和颜淑玲有着相似新年愿望的人，不在少数。将在今年毕业的刘凌莉（22岁，商科学生），星期天也和朋友一起来到滨海湾花园，“我们来沾一下新年的喜气，希望今年能找到称心如意的好工作，开启新的人生篇章”。

为今年春到河畔主持开幕礼的总理兼财政部长黄循财，也在华文致辞中再次承诺，无论时代和世界如何变迁，政府照顾好国人、让大家都拥有更美好的生活和未来的初心，不会改变。

随着黄总理敲响代表春到河畔开幕的金锣，滨海湾花园绿坪（The Meadow）上，绚烂的烟火划破夜空。

她受访时说，自己不是第一次来到新加坡，但与家人一起，在异国他乡感受其他民族的新年喜庆氛围，还是头一回。“这里的人们和天气一样，很热烈，让我很难忘。”

“Frankenstein,” “Wuthering Heights” star Jacob Elordi: “My dream was to play in the movies”

A hundred years ago, a group including Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks built a Spanish gothic masterpiece – what was then called the United Artists Theatre – in downtown Los Angeles. For the true movie fan, like actor Jacob Elordi, it’s kind of a church.

Visiting the Hollywood landmark, Elordi said, “Yeah, I love going to the movies.”

And he also makes movies that people love.

In Guillermo Del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” Elordi is the Creature, a role that has brought him critical acclaim and, at age 28, an Oscar nomination.

Elordi said the Oscar announcement was definitely a “pinch me” moment: “I was like, you know, just sat there, like, ‘Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up,’” he said. “I’ll probably die and never quite believe that I was in the picture, you know?”

And it still feels like that. “Yeah. And I like it that way.”

In “Frankenstein,” his humanity shines through, even after the makeup team spent hours making him into a monster. Asked how long it took to apply full prosthetics and makeup, Elordi said, “It would depend; when he was freshly minted and newborn, you know, head-to-toe sort of sculpture, it was 10 or 11 hours depending on how much we were moving or whatnot.”

The monster makeup job and the physicality of the role might all seem a bit brutal. But Elordi’s not the kind of guy to let a little adversity get in his way. Asked if there were times he ever thought this career wasn’t for him, he replied, “Never. No, never, never. I’ve been on a single track seriously since 15 years old. And it hasn’t waned yet, which I’ve been really, really happy about!”

Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, Elordi discovered a love for acting at a young age. A lead role in the 2018 film “The Kissing Booth” put him on the map, and the HBO Max series “Euphoria” put him in the young adult stratosphere.

But he says director Sofia Coppola brought him to the next level when she cast him as The King in “Priscilla.” “I think playing Elvis Presley was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do on screen,” he said. “I felt like I was knocking on the door of Hollywood, like, ‘Please, take me seriously.’ And then they answered and gave it to me – and I was like, ‘Oh, no. No, Sofia Coppola? And she wants me to play Elvis Presley? Okay. Goodness, gracious.’ It couldn’t just be, like, a guy, you know, that the heroine loves, or something. Like, I would’ve loved to just play the guy. But no, it had to be Elvis Presley. That was nice. It was really a big sort of departure from myself, I think.”

And now, with the biggest role of his career so far under his belt, Elordi has an Oscar nod – and one proud momma.

“It was particularly beautiful,” he said, “because – this is very dramatic, but I remember (and any actor that says they haven’t done this is a liar) you would practice your Academy Award speech when you were young, formulating the dream. And I remember being 15 or 16 doing it. And I remember I would tear up, because I thought, you know, ‘Mum’s not gonna get to see this.’ And the day that I got nominated, Mum was with me. And I realized, you know, Mum’s gonna get to see all of this. She’s gonna get to see all of the spoils of her work, all the time and love that she invested, we get to share it now.“

Standing in the historic United Theater on Broadway, Elordi said, “I can’t really believe I’m in Los Angeles talking to you and making movies.”

It still feels, he said, unreal: “Yeah, absolutely, very much so, and probably always will, too. ‘Cause it’s a fantasy job. This is the job that nobody gets to do. And I feel a bit spoiled. I’m honestly a little bit embarrassed sometimes being one of the people that get to do it, you know?

“You’ve earned it,” I said

“For now!” he laughed.

And, for now, he’s making the most of it. Elordi’s new film, “Wuthering Heights,” opposite fellow Australian Margot Robbie, opened Friday to lots of social media buzz.

But like this old theater, Jacob Elordi wants to build something for the ages.

I asked, “It seems to me that you’ve made a conscious decision to kind of not let that part of the industry, the fame machine, affect you, like with your relationship with social media. You’re not really on there a lot.”

“I have no relationship with social media,” Elordi said. “My dream was to be an actor. My dream was to play in the movies. And I’ve been given exactly what I wanted. And I see it exactly how I dreamed it. And I live it how I dreamed it. So, for me that’s about all I can handle!”

日据时期的惨痛历史，新加坡绝对不能、不应，也不会忘记；唯有当自身命运的主人，坚定团结，才能为后代守卫安全稳固的新加坡。

星期天（2月15日）是全面防卫日，我国多位领导人在追忆历史时提醒国人，面对当今分化而危险的世界，新加坡更须保持警觉、做好准备，在有需要时随时捍卫国家。

与此同时，我国必须竭力维护区域和平、稳定与互信，绝不允许被外国势力占领新加坡。

黄总理：保家卫国绝不能假手他人

教育部长李智陞星期天上午出席第59届悼念日本占领时期死难人民祭礼暨全面防卫日纪念活动，阐述历史不能遗忘。总理黄循财则一早在脸书发文，阐述历史的惨痛教训：除了我们自己，保家卫国绝不能假手他人。

1942年2月15日，当时还是英国殖民地的新加坡在日军侵略下沦陷，数以万计人民在肃清行动中被机关枪扫射至死，许多生命遭遇苦难、家破人亡。

黄总理强调：“当年的苦难给我们留下了沉重而持久的教训——我们必须当自己命运的主人。没有其他人会代替我们保卫新加坡。”

他进一步指出：“在当今分化而危险的世界里，这一课的意义更是深重。”

黄总理说，新加坡虽是小国，但我国的力量从不只取决于人口多寡，而在于全民捍卫家园与生活方式的集体意志与决心。他呼吁国人坚定地团结一致，为后代守卫安全稳固的新加坡。

李智陞：无法捍卫国家 将付沉重代价

据非官方统计，新加坡在日据期间至少有5万人遇难。为悼念当年的死难者，我国每年2月15日在美芝路的纪念碑公园举行悼念仪式。今年约500人出席祭礼暨全面防卫日纪念活动，出席者包括各国外交使节、新加坡武装部队代表、宗教领袖代表，以及170名中小学生等。

活动主宾、教育部长李智陞致辞时说，我国1967年设立日本占领时期死难人民纪念碑，不止为了缅怀逝者，更是提醒自己，若无法捍卫国家与人民，后果会是什么。

他引述黄总理去年于新加坡光复日、二战结束80周年纪念时的讲话。总理当时形容，新加坡沦陷是“烙印在国家集体记忆中”的黑暗篇章，牺牲者所付出的代价，是“一笔我们永远无法完全偿还的债”。

李智陞说：“我们绝对不能、不应，也不会忘记这段惨痛历史。”

他指出，这也是我国将2月15日定为全面防卫日的原因，以提醒国人绝不允许外国势力再次占领新加坡，为了维护主权与自由，必须时刻做好准备，防卫家园。

李智陞也指出，二战后由美国主导的全球秩序正逐渐式微，国际局势日益充满争夺、不确定与危险。

他引用建国总理李光耀1967年为这座纪念碑揭幕时的讲话指出，纪念碑并非为了警惕另一次来自日本的入侵，而是在世界力量格局剧烈变化之后，提醒国人警惕本区域乃至全球出现的新危险。

李光耀当年说，纪念碑应该激励我国，推行能够培育最多可靠而强大的朋友的政策。

李智陞强调，李光耀当年的话，至今依然适用。对新加坡来说，保持坚定与团结，绝不再让国家变得脆弱、无力自保，尤为重要。

“在这个不确定的时代，我们必须竭尽所能维护本区域和平、稳定和互信。这也是为什么新加坡始终致力于与远方和邻近国家，建立牢固的友谊和持久的伙伴关系。”

李显龙：小国更须团结强大 应对复杂世界挑战

国务资政李显龙也在星期天发文说，回望走过的84年，我国在复杂多变的世界中生存、发展。不过，战争与地缘政治紧张局势，影响着世界许多地方。我国近来也面对不少挑战，从抗击冠病疫情，到维持经济的强劲与韧性；从遏止外国干预、捍卫种族与宗教和谐，到提防假消息与网络攻击。

李资政强调，新加坡是个小国，若缺乏全面防卫六大支柱和富有凝聚力的社会，这些挑战将削弱国家，甚至威胁我国存亡。他强调，每个新加坡人都能尽一分力，社会的强度由最弱环节决定，国人须继续保持团结，携手建设更强韧的国家，应对前路上的各种挑战。

全面防卫涵盖军事、民防、经济、数码、心理，以及社会六个支柱。

Paul Anka: Still doing it his way

It was a feeling of fall in the air when fans arrived at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, Calif., for an opportunity to fall back in time with Paul Anka. He was the soundtrack of an age when drive-ins and back seats were the currency of teen romance. He knew what teens liked, because he was one.

“I’ve been in show business since I was about 10 years old,” he said.

Today, Anka is a remarkably young 84. And when the lights go down, the room lights up.

This, my darling, I’ve been told
I don’t care just what they say
‘Cause forever I will pray
You and I will be as free
As the birds up in the trees

“When you started as I did as a kid with a squeaky little voice, not knowing what’s gonna happen when it changes, I couldn’t envision me being around for all these decades, you know?” he said.

The nostalgia is real, but so is his staying power. Anka has remained on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart for seven straight decades. He’s re-invented, re-imagined and re-written himself over and over again. He was one of the few who made the lyrical leap from ’50s teeny bopper to classic crooner, steadily performing with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. in the 1960s.

I asked, “Did you feel like a kid? I mean, did you struggle to be taken seriously because you were so young?”

“All of that,” Anka replied. “It was very difficult to go from a modest background in a small town, to everybody’s all over you and you’re famous and you’re a celebrity. Frankly, I kept saying, ‘How do I not become an a,’ excuse me?”

He was living the life, but also learning about life. “Hanging around with the Rat Pack and the mob and Las Vegas,” he said. “They drank and smoked, and I was fascinated, but I noticed they’d be coming off and coughing and spitting, and I’d be introduced to their doctors. So I never became a smoker. I never became a big drinker.”

What he did become is a veracious reader of medical literature. If it’s healthy, he’s likely given it a shot, like his daily shot of olive oil with lemon. Whatever he’s done, it’s worked. His voice is strong, he struts the stage, and he still has a disarming sense of humor. “We’re here for a while, folks,” he told the crowd. “If you need to take pills or go to the bathroom, just go whenever you want.”

Just this past week, Anka released his latest album, one of more than 130 he’s recorded. It’s a collection of music about love and life, he says; both are his stock in trade. On the wall of his home outside Los Angeles there are more gold records than you can count – not just for his own songs, but the ones he wrote for others. Buddy Holly’s “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore” – that was Anka. “She’s a Lady” – Tom Jones owes Anka that one, too. He even wrote with Michael Jackson, a long-forgotten demo they recorded together back in the 1980s, that surfaced after Jackson died in 2009. “They found these songs in a drawer,” Anka said.

“Love Never Felt So Good” became one of the last hits of the King of Pop.

In 2020 Anka surfaced again, when Grammy-winning rapper and singer Doja Cat sampled his “Put Your Head On My Shoulder” in her song “Freak.” Imitating that video went on to become a TikTok trend.

But of all the songs he’s known for, it’s the one he wrote for Ol’ Blue Eyes that still gets people a little misty. As the story goes, Frank Sinatra told Anka he was thinking about retiring, and Anka – only 25 at the time – says the lyrics of “My Way” just came to him. “It started to write itself,” he said.

_I’ve lived a life that’s full,
I travelled each and every highway,
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way._

It took about five hours to write. “It was such a hit, he stayed ten more years!” Anka said of Sinatra. “And then after that came ‘Let Me Try Again.’”

Yep, he wrote that one, too.

These days it’s more about family than fans. He’s got nine grandkids, including two from his daughter Amanda, and her husband actor Jason Bateman.

Paul Anka knows he’ll have to tap the brakes at some point, but just like the song goes, he’s travelled each and every highway, and when he does leave he’ll do it his way.

“When it’s time for my body to say enough, I’ll know,” he said. “I’m playing with the house’s money now. I’m one lucky guy!”
