    Abughazaleh was one of 15 people running in a crowded primary to replace Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., who is retiring after nearly 30 years in Congress.

    Nancy Guthrie has been missing for 45 days, and with the latest update in the case being of little use to authorities, one expert tells CBS News the extended timeline means it “becomes much harder to keep the investigation going.”

    Law enforcement sources told CBS News that additional images were obtained in the last couple of weeks from surveillance cameras installed at Guthrie’s Tucson home, where she is believed to have been abducted from in the middle of the night on Feb. 1.

    The images, taken from a camera fastened to a fence and focused on the back of the house and another that showed the driveway and front of the garage door, captured family members, landscapers and pool workers stretching back weeks prior to the kidnapping. Nothing was deemed suspicious, and no images reviewed showed the suspect captured on the front door camera.

    In the seventh week of the investigation into the disappearance of the 84-year-old mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, doorbell camera video shared by the FBI on Feb. 10 remains the only known images of the suspect.

    Lance Leising, a retired FBI supervisory special agent, told CBS News it all points to “a lack of meaningful leads. That’s the initial thing it says to me.”

    “It becomes much harder to keep the investigation going, keep it current and fight for new leads,” he added.

    DNA recovered from the scene is still being analyzed, with investigators turning to forensic genetic genealogy in hopes of breaking the case open. It’s a technique that’s been used in the past to find other high-profile criminals, including Bryan Kohberger, the man who killed four University of Idaho students in 2022.

    Leising warned, however, that the process “takes a while.”

    “Maybe you’ve got multiple people within the same DNA family that could potentially be suspects. You have to investigate each one of those independently,” he said.

    Authorities also continue to receive tips, with over 1,500 potential leads coming into the FBI after the Guthrie family announced a $1 million reward. But it’s been nearly three weeks since the family last called on the public for help and more than a month since law enforcement held a news conference to discuss the case.

    “I’d like to be hopeful that — and I’m sure the family is incredibly hopeful — that the silence is because they’re on to something,” Leising said. “They just need to investigate harder.”

    One person was killed and another was wounded in a shooting at a U.S. Air Force base in New Mexico on Tuesday, according to military officials.

    The Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo, in southern New Mexico, was put on lockdown at about 5:30 p.m. due to reports of an active shooter, according to a statement released by the Holloman Air Force Base. The person who was wounded has been taken for medical treatment.

    Security officials confirmed the base is safe and the lockdown has been lifted.

    “Emergency personnel are responding to the situation and there is no threat at this time,” the statement reads.

    Officials have not released the identities of those shot or any further details about the shooting.

    The roughly 93-square-mile base houses the 49th Wing, which supports national security work and includes combat-ready airmen and guardians, according to its website.

    Democrat Patty García secured her party’s nomination for Illinois’ 4th Congressional District after a controversial last-minute decision by her former boss, incumbent Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García, not to seek re-election allowed her to run unopposed.

    A heavily Hispanic district situated in Chicago and its suburbs, Illinois’ 4th Congressional District is considered one of the deepest-blue House districts in the country, giving García a marked advantage in the November general election.

    After serving on Rep. García’s staff since his 2019 election, she is widely considered his handpicked successor. The two are not related. Rep. García sparked controversy last fall when he announced he would not seek re-election two days after the filing deadline had passed. The maneuver left only García on the ballot, forcing progressive candidates Byron Sigcho-Lopez and Mayra Macías to run as independents.

    Critics called the maneuver an unfair attempt by Rep. García to tip the scales in his district’s next election. The House later passed a resolution of disapproval against him, led by fellow Democrat Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Wash. Nearly two dozen House Democrats defied Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., to vote in favor of the rebuke.

    The measure passed 236 to 183, with 23 Democrats joining Republicans to rebuke Rep. García. Four lawmakers voted “present” — Reps. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, Chrissy Houlahan, D-Pa., Suhas Subramanyam, D-Va., and Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio.

    García is a Chicago native and longtime Democratic political strategist who has served as Rep. García’s chief of staff since 2023. She is running on a progressive platform that closely mirrors her boss’s priorities and is pro-union and a staunch opponent of President Donald Trump.

    Her campaign website states that immigration enforcement is “being used to terrorize working-class communities.” She has pledged to work to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with her website stating, “Patty has confronted abusive tactics head-on and will fight for dignity, due process, and to abolish ICE so families can live without fear.”

    The general election in District 4 will be a clash among progressives. Sigcho-Lopez is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, a socialist political group that has seen a resurgence in American politics with the election of figures such as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

    Meanwhile, Macías states on her campaign website that she is running for Congress “because everything she has fought for is being rolled back and the community that raised her is being directly targeted by the Trump Administration.”

    中国市场曾贡献英伟达约四分之一营收，如今占比已大幅下降。尽管全球需求依然强劲，但作为全球最大的单一半导体市场之一，中国对英伟达的长期增长仍具有重要意义。

    Venezuela defeats U.S. 3-2 for first World Baseball Classic title

    Venezuela stunned the United States in the World Baseball Classic final, beating the Americans 3-2 for the country’s first WBC title.

    Maikel Garcia got Venezuela on the board with a sacrifice fly that scored Salvador Perez in the top of the 3rd. Then Wilyer Abreu added another run with a solo shot in the 5th.

    The U.S. bats, meanwhile, had been silenced until the bottom of the 8th, when Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper hit a game-tying two-run home run.

    But a leadoff walk in the top of the 9th allowed Eugenio Suárez to knock in what would prove to be the winning run, smacking a double to left center field and scoring pinch runner Javier Sonoja.

    Daniel Palencia struck out two in a perfect bottom half to finish a three-hitter and get his third save of the WBC, striking out Roman Anthony to end the game. Venezuelans ran onto the infield to celebrate as the Americans stared while leaning on their dugout railing.

    Despite a heralded roster of stars led by Aaron Judge, Harper and Paul Skenes, the U.S. lost its second straight final of baseball’s premier international event and remained without a title since 2017. Judge was 0 for 4 with three strikeouts in the championship game.

    Ahead of a matchup with political overtones, players and coaches avoided discussing the government turmoil between the nations, heightened when the U.S. military captured Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro in January. The sellout crowd at LoanDepot Park was heavily pro-Venezuela, with some booing American players during the introductions.

    Venezuela became the second Latin American nation to win the WBC, after the Dominican Republic in 2013. The U.S. took the title in 2017 and lost the 2023 final to three-time champion Japan on this same field.

    While the U.S., Japan and the Dominican Republic got much of the attention ahead of the sixth edition of the 20-nation event, Venezuela’s success was not that surprising. Sixty-three players born in Venezuela appeared on Major League Baseball opening-day rosters last year, second-most from outside the U.S. behind the Dominican Republic’s 100.

    Venezuela went ahead in the third inning against McLean, getting the start because Tarik Skubal and the Detroit Tigers decided the two-time Cy Young Award winner would make only a first-round appearance.

    Salvador Perez sliced a first-pitch single and Ronald Acuña Jr. walked with one out. The runners advanced when McLean bounced a curveball, and Garcia followed with a sac fly to center.

    Abreu doubled the lead when he drove a fastball 414 feet to center. His helmet fell off when he rounded second and he hopped in excitement as he neared the plate, where he was greeted by a line of teammates.

    Rodriguez allowed one hit in 4 1/3 innings before Venezuela turned to its bullpen.

    U.S. players had arrived at LoanDepot Park in game-worn U.S. Olympic hockey jerseys coordinated by outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and Jack Hughes, who scored the gold medal-winning goal against Canada last month.

    In a darkened ballpark filled by fans wearing wristbands with festive blinking lights, Judge and Arraez led the teams down the foul lines for the introductions while carrying their nation’s flags.
