A Democratic win in a special election in solidly red Texas is sparking a new wave of warnings from Republicans on Capitol Hill about finetuning messaging and revving up turnout heading into the midterm elections.

“It should be a warning, and I think we’ve got to respond,” said Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska, adding President Donald Trump won on border and inflation issues and “if we were to focus on that and still focus on that, I think we’d be a lot better off.”

Nine months until the November elections, Republican angst over a double-digit Democratic victory in a state Senate district Trump won by 17 points in 2024 is settling in from Texas to the nation’s capital.

“It should be a wake-up call because I think most Republicans are satisfied with what the Trump administration has done. His numbers amongst Republicans are good, but they’re going to have to come out and vote and I think that’ll help change the election environment,” said Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma.

“But hey, no doubt about it, minority parties win off-year elections most times,” Cole added. “Republicans ought to understand it’s going to take an exceptional effort to hold the majority.”

The win Saturday by Democrat Taylor Rehmet in the Fort Worth-area district is the latest in a string of special election triumphs by the party since the start of Trump’s second term. Rehmet, a union president and veteran, defeated Trump-endorsed candidate Leigh Wambsganss by 14 points – representing a roughly 31-point swing from Trump’s 2024 margin.

“The problem is bigger than they think it is,” Rehmet said of Republicans Monday during an appearance with CNN’s Erin Burnett. “Because working folks have been left behind, and we need to start finding creative ways to lower costs and help folks out in this economy.”

    Implications for November

Rehmet’s victory has prompted Republicans to reassess the party’s political standing as they grapple with the president’s low approval ratings and historical trends that traditionally go against the party in the White House.

“That’s not an accident. That’s an issue,” one Republican strategist familiar with Texas races said. “That doesn’t happen very often.”

“I haven’t studied those Texas numbers specifically, but I mean, anytime that you lose a race in red areas, it would be concerning,” said Montana Sen. Steve Daines, a former chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

In this image taken from KXAS video, State Sen-elect Taylor Rehmet (D) speaks in Fort Worth, Texas on January 31, 2026, after winning a special election for the Texas state Senate and flipped a reliably Republican district that President Donald Trump won by 17 points in 2024.

Rehmet said his campaign also worked to win back Latino voters who swung to Trump in the last presidential election.

“We showed up with Latino voters from the very beginning,” he said, saying he tried to reach out to a community “often overlooked, definitely underserved.”

The race played out as Republicans and Democrats in the state will hold Senate primaries next month, which will test the direction of each party in the conservative state. Republicans are engaged in a three-way primary between incumbent Sen. John Cornyn, state Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Wesley Hunt. The Democratic primary features two rising stars in the party – Rep. Jasmine Crockett and state Rep. James Talarico.

The special election contest, which was held on a weekend during a cold stretch in Texas, saw low turnout, an issue many Republicans officials pointed to as they took stock of the results.

“It was obviously a rough night, and it underscores the need for Republican turnout in November,” said Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas. “I think we’re all taking the midterms seriously.”

In the final stretch of the election, the president sought to turn out base voters, posting three times on social media. But in the aftermath of the election, Trump distanced himself from the Republican contest.

“I’m not involved with that. That’s a local Texas race,” Trump told reporters Sunday when asked about the race.

Calls to focus on areas of strength

But others have warned the race should serve as “wake-up call” for the president and his party as they craft their messaging for the midterms.

“There’s all this other stuff going on, whether it’s tariffs, the voters are overwhelmingly for Ukraine, and he’s not been there on that. So I think there’s so many areas that the president and our team to be stronger on,” said Bacon, who is not seeking reelection.

“I think it’s an anomaly, but I don’t think it’s something that you want to brush off,” said Rep. Jodey Arrington of Texas, adding that while he believes the GOP will have advantages, including resources, “you got to run through the tape.”

Arrington said Republicans need to address issues like health care affordability and cracking down on fraud in order to overcome some of the barriers they face.

“I see this as a good reminder to Republicans that historically, we are fighting uphill, not downhill, because of the current power dynamic, and that happens all the time,” he said. “The only way we are going to overcome it is if we continue to do what the president was elected and sent here with a mandate to do and what we promised and not to take our foot off the pedal.”

Republicans also are contending with a deeply energized Democratic base. A recent CNN poll showed Democratic registered voters were far more motivated to vote this year than Republicans – despite widespread dissatisfaction with party leaders.

On Monday, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries quipped “the Republicans done effed up in Texas, and they know it,” when asked about the state Senate race.

Jeffries predicted that despite Republicans attempts to redraw Texas congressional maps in an effort to gain five more seats, “they’re going to struggle to win three based on 2024 performance, let alone what we’ve seen literally over the last year.”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, who is looking to maintain the GOP majority in the upper chamber, downplayed the Democratic win but acknowledged his party needs to do more to connect with voters.

“The party in power typically has headwinds they’re facing, as I’ve said before, going into midterm elections. But I think there are a lot of factors, and these races are all, have their own unique features and characteristics,” Thune said.

“I think the, you know, the message is, we gotta up our game and make sure that we’re doing everything to, to give people, particularly voters in the middle of the electorate who decide these types of elections, a reason to vote for our candidates,” Thune added. “And I believe we will do that.”

Sens. Jeanne Shaheen, Susan Collins urge Pentagon not to sideline Havana Syndrome research

    February 3, 2026 / 6:00 AM EST / CBS News

Two senators — one Republican and one Democrat — warned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth against relocating and reducing resources for a Pentagon team charged with investigating so-called “Anomalous Health Incidents,” or AHI, colloquially known as Havana Syndrome, arguing that such a move would undercut care for affected personnel and stall ongoing research.

In a letter sent to Hegseth on Monday, Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire and Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine raised concerns about reported plans within the Department of Defense to shift the cross-functional team, known as a CFT, that coordinates the department’s response to the Havana Syndrome out of its current position under the Office of the Under Secretary for Policy.

While the proposed change has been described internally as a bureaucratic reorganization, the senators cautioned that it could effectively sideline the team and weaken its ability to research the underlying cause and identify care for victims.

“We owe it to these personnel to continue to receive care while ongoing research is done on attribution and technology, which can only be done by the CFT in its current form,” the senators wrote.

The Pentagon did not respond to a request for comment on whether it had any plans to relocate the CFT. The Washington Examiner first reported officials were considering moving the team from the portfolio of the under secretary of defense for policy to the under secretary of defense for research and engineering.

AHI refers to a suite of unexplained neurological symptoms first reported by American personnel in Havana, Cuba, beginning in 2016 and later elsewhere. Reported symptoms include intense headaches, dizziness and vertigo, ringing in the ears, nausea, vision problems and debilitating cognitive effects, according to multiple investigations.

There have been more than 1,500 reports of the condition over the past decade. An unclassified Government Accountability Office report previously identified 334 U.S. government personnel who sought care for AHI through the military health system as of 2024.

A senior congressional official told CBS News additional cases were reported during the first year of the second Trump administration, but declined to provide further details due to classification concerns. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive national security matters.

CBS News has reached out for comment to the Defense Health Agency, which manages medical assessments and treatments for AHI among servicemembers.

The CFT “has been a very important resource to the people in this cohort,” the congressional official said, noting it serves as a “central repository” for victims to access care, navigate compensation claims through Havana Act legislation, discuss broader research into directed energy weapons, or even just have a place where their symptoms are taken seriously.

“Disbanding a carefully curated team of experts with decades of experience reeks of either incompetence or a cover-up,” former CIA operations officer ‘Adam,’ who served in Havana, told CBS News. “If Secretary Hegseth knew what this would mean for the war fighter that he so adamantly wants to protect and care for, there’s no way he would sign off.”

The CFT was established in the FY2022 National Defense Authorization Act to centralize the department’s response to AHI, which has affected hundreds of U.S. government personnel, including military service members, diplomats, and intelligence officers. Its mandate spans medical care, benefits processing under the Havana Act, research, and coordination with investigative elements examining potential causes.

A multi-year intelligence community assessment concluded in 2024 that a foreign adversary is “very unlikely” to be responsible for most reported AHIs, though some adjacent expert panels have suggested directed, pulsed electromagnetic energy as a plausible explanation for a subset of cases. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence has been conducting a review of the intelligence community’s previous investigations of the incidents, but it has not been made public.

CBS News previously reported the U.S. government quietly acquired a device in late 2024 that officials believe may be connected to AHIs. The Pentagon has been testing the device, which emits pulsed, radio-frequency energy, and contains Russian-made components, for more than a year.

Some lawmakers and affected personnel have criticized the intelligence community’s prior conclusions and pressed for more rigorous investigation and transparency. In their letter, the senators noted the CFT had not been made available to provide briefings on its findings since 2024, which they said was “not only a violation of the law, but raises concerns over the motivations of some within your Department on continuing the CFT’s important work.”

The congressional official noted that the Defense Department has not lost interest at the leadership level. “When the CFT has briefed the Secretary…he has been receptive,” but said other bureaucratic levels were less invested in — and even overtly opposed to — investigating the issue.

According to the letter, Hegseth, following his confirmation hearing last year, submitted written answers to the Senate Armed Services Committee committing to “fully support DoD facilities continuing to care for diplomats, intelligence professionals and other U.S. government employees suffering AHI symptoms.”

The senators in their letter to Hegseth said any change to the CFT would “appear to be out of line with both your priorities and those of the President.”

Trump seeks $1 billion from Harvard as two sides remain far from deal

By Rishabh Jaiswal, Shivani Tanna and Kanishka Singh

WASHINGTON, Feb 3 (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump said late on Monday his administration is pursuing $1 billion from Harvard to settle federal probes into the university over school policies, with the two sides yet to reach a final deal despite months of talks.

The Trump administration has been threatening to withhold federal funds from Harvard and several other universities over issues including pro-Palestinian protests against Israel’s war in Gaza, campus diversity and transgender policies.

    Sign up here.

Trump has said Harvard and other universities allowed displays of antisemitism during pro-Palestinian protests.

“We are now seeking One Billion Dollars in damages, and want nothing further to do, into the future, with Harvard University,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post, without specifying how he arrived at that figure or what damages exactly he was referring to.

Trump’s post came in response to a New York Times report, citing sources, saying the Trump administration has dropped its demand for cash from Harvard in ongoing talks to strike a deal. Trump dismissed the report.

Trump officials and Harvard have engaged in months of talks. Trump said in September a deal was close and would involve a $500 million payment by Harvard.

Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Harvard did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

The government has settled its probes with some universities. Harvard sued the Trump administration last year and a judge later ruled the government had unlawfully terminated some grants for the university.

Protesters, including some Jewish groups, say the government wrongly equates criticism of Israel’s assault on Gaza and its occupation of Palestinian territories with antisemitism, and advocacy for Palestinian rights with support for extremism.

Rights advocates have also raised free speech and academic freedom concerns over Trump’s probes.

Several other Ivy League schools, including Columbia University and Brown University, have reached agreements with the administration and accepted certain government demands. Columbia agreed to pay more than $220 million to the government and Brown said it will pay $50 million to support local workforce development.

MAHA’s money man has built a political machine. Will it matter for midterms?

A sixth-generation farmer running for Iowa governor, Zach Lahn is the first MAHA-endorsed candidate of the 2026 election cycle.

Running on a platform that includes taking on “Big Agriculture” and “Big Pharma,” his visibility in a crowded field received a boost in publicity when he appeared in December on a popular weekly teleconference hosted by MAHA Action, a lobby group that has become the chief political arm of the movement.

Introducing Lahn, MAHA Action’s leader Tony Lyons declared: “This race is a national problem. It’s a national race, and it’s critical for the MAHA movement. And victory here will demonstrate that we can rebuild, you know, values that will make this country healthy.”

Over the first year of the Trump presidency, “Make America Healthy Again” advocates have issued a warning: Politicians ignore MAHA’s demands at their peril. The deep-pocketed financiers who fueled the movement’s rise have been building the machinery to take MAHA from grassroots outsiders to entrenched power players in Washington and around the country.

The most influential among these is Lyons, a long-time supporter of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who has poured millions into building the political movement, first as a backer of Kennedy’s 2024 presidential run, and now as one of the key architects of MAHA’s political influence.

“We need to fight, fight, fight, and we need to keep making progress,” Lyons, whose company Skyhorse has made a name publishing the works of controversial figures, including RFK Jr., said when he introduced Lahn. “Make no mistake, this is going to be this is a real battle, and it’s endless.”

There is a lot to boast about, Lyons and MAHA leaders say: A whittled-down childhood vaccine schedule, new dietary guidelines with a reversed food pyramid, and plans to remove food artificial dyes from foods.

But there is skepticism that the movement has the momentum — and coherence — to make a difference for the Republicans running with the backing of the MAHA label.

The Trump coalition of voters, including MAHA advocates, tends to include “folks who are otherwise not voting, or not as closely attached to the political process, until sufficiently aggrieved,” said Thomas Miller, a senior fellow on health policy at the conservative think tank American Enterprise Institute.

“That’s harder to do in a 2026 election” because of less voter turnout during midterms, he said.

A midterm election can be a particular problem when you are the party in power, noted Miller. “Unfortunately for the folks who are running on the Republican side, they’re the incumbents now, as opposed to the other folks who were being demonized before.”

    Making MAHA a DC staple

The political arm of the MAHA movement has steadily built its influence in Washington and state capitals over the past year.

The scope and depth of its reach could be seen on a cold morning in Washington, DC, last November, when the line to get into what used to be the Trump International Hotel — now the gilded Waldorf Astoria — snaked around the block.

Attending the inaugural “Make America Healthy Again Summit” that day put on by Lyons were Vice President JD Vance; Ultimate Fighting Champion boss Dana White; comedian Russell Brand, who is fighting rape and sexual assault charges; longevity and alternative medicine-obsessed tech multimillionaire Bryan Johnson; and ex-NASCAR driver Danica Patrick.

Kennedy headlined the event, which featured a series of corporate-themed panels interspersed with pop-culture discussions and reflections on how to “Make American Biotechnology Accelerate.”

Health food advocates, tech entrepreneurs and lobbyists waited, at times, for more than an hour to get in.

A week earlier, a separate conference in Austin, Texas, drew a distinctly different MAHA crowd. That gathering, organized by the Children’s Health Defense, the anti-vaccine nonprofit Kennedy founded before he entered politics, featured another longtime Kennedy associate and donor Mark Gorton, founder of the software firm LimeWire who encouraged people “to be more boldly anti-vax.”

Lyons, Gorton and a cadre of long-time Kennedy backers have been with the health secretary since the beginning, helping to propel the otherwise grassroots-based MAHA movement with their power, influence and funds.

When Kennedy entered the presidential race as a dark horse candidate in 2024, Gorton and Lyons were early donors and organizers. Gorton, a vaccine skeptic and critic of Covid-19 shutdown measures, gave $1 million to the Kennedy war chest through American Values, a political action committee he co-founded with Lyons. American Values ultimately raised more than $50 million.

After Kennedy endorsed Trump and the Republican secured a second term, Lyons founded the MAHA Action PAC, which has launched six-figure ad campaigns touting Trump and Kennedy’s work, holds weekly virtual events for supporters, and curries high-profile endorsers such as those who graced the Waldorf Astoria event.

On the state level, MAHA Action has built a website tracking legislation they urge followers to support (tougher food labels, allowing raw milk sales, health care price transparency) and those they should write lawmakers to oppose (a California bill that would shift authority over vaccine recommendations from Kennedy’s reshaped federal advisory group to the state health department).

At the start of last year, when Lyons renamed American Values PAC to become MAHA-focused, the lobby had war chest of $7.7 million. It spent $3.8 million of those funds in the first half of the year, according to federal financial disclosures, much of which went to X Corp., the Elon Musk-owned successor to Twitter; Merit Stream Media, a platform owned by Dr. Phil, who has supported MAHA agenda points; and Gavin de Becker Associates, a security firm led by Kennedy’s longtime security adviser.

The PAC’s full-year financial disclosures are expected in February.

Much of the money so far has gone to online streaming, and streaming often. For the MAHA-aligned part of the Trump administration, this has created a platform for reaching the movement. Health officials regularly appear on MAHA video calls to tout wins on food and pharmaceuticals and remind voters to keep engaging.

“We as a group, this Make America Healthy Again movement, are in a position to basically determine the outcome of the midterms,”Robert Malone, a Kennedy-appointed vaccine adviser and an early pioneer of the messenger RNA technology eventually used in Covid-19 vaccines, said during a November MAHA Action call.

“The question is: will members of the House and the Senate recognize the importance of our movement, our agenda, our initiatives, the force of the interest in this, by key constituencies,” he said.

Does it translate to votes? And does it matter?

But as Kennedy and his cohort score wins in Washington, there is growing concern that vaccine policy changes could alienate average Americans ahead of the midterms.

Most voters have extreme confidence in the childhood vaccine schedule, according to Pew Research polling from November, before HHS narrowed the recommended vaccinations for most children.

December polling from Tony Fabrizio, longtime GOP strategist and 2024 pollster for Trump, show similar trends: More than 70% of voters say the benefits of common vaccinations outweigh the risks, including 6 in 10 MAHA voters, according to his polling firm FabrizioWard.

While the MAHA agenda — food policy, particularly — is widely popular across party lines, vaccine skepticism is not, including among MAHA voters, according to pollsters.

But it’s unclear if health issues such as food or chemical safety will weigh heavily on voters’ minds this year.

“Voters are sending a loud message that their biggest concern is the economy and prices,” said Doug Heye,a GOP strategist and former RNC communications director. “Other issues just have not been registering.”

Regardless of the movement’s sway in the midterms, the MAHA industrial complex is continuing to make product endorsements, sell supplements, and put out bestselling books.

While Skyhorse does not make its sales and profits public, it has touted being one of the fastest-growing independent publishers in the country, with more than 100 bestsellers to its name. Those same authors often appear in the weekly MAHA Action streaming installments.

Several of Skyhorse’s top sellers came from Kennedy, who stands to make millions more from the publishing house. The health secretary last year reported that he is owed between $2 million and $4 million for two upcoming books, “Unsettled Science” and “A Defense for Israel,” and made $450,000 from Skyhorse for consulting on book ideas and writing forewords for authors.

Kennedy is contracted for a third book with Skyhorse that he will not write or promote while serving in government, according to his financial disclosures. But his wife, Cheryl Hines, received a $600,000 advance for her November 2025 memoir, according to those documents.

Last month, Kennedy himself made a surprise appearance on a MAHA Action call, roughly an hour after standing with Trump in the Oval Office as the president signed a bill reintroducing whole milk in schools.

Following some remarks from Kennedy on the signing, Lyons told him:

“There are 7,000 influencers watching this show, and I just want you to know that they all love you, that millions of MAHA moms, you know, have your back, are fighting for you.”

“They recognize that you’ve risked everything to fight for them,” he said.

Jeffrey Epstein’s ties to politicians, business titans and other figures

Feb 2 (Reuters) – The U.S. Justice Department’s release of millions of internal documents related to Jeffrey Epstein has revealed the late financier and sex offender’s ties to many prominent people in politics, finance, academia and business – both before and after he pleaded guilty in 2008 to prostitution charges, including soliciting an underage girl. Evidence in multiple legal and criminal cases has also shed light on these connections.

Epstein was arrested again in 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking of minors. His 2019 death in a Manhattan jail cell was ruled a suicide.

    Sign up here.

The Justice Department has warned that the material could include faked images or untrue allegations, as well as pornographic material. On Monday, the Department said it had removed several thousand documents that inadvertently identified some of Epstein’s victims.

The Justice Department’s No. 2 official, Todd Blanche, has said the material did not amount to evidence of criminal sexual activity by those named in the files.

Here are some of the prominent people whose ties to Epstein are revealed in the material released by the Justice Department.

    DONALD TRUMP

Trump socialized extensively with Epstein in the 1990s and 2000s, and is quoted in a magazine profile during that period as saying that Epstein likes women “on the younger side.” Documents released by the Justice Department include photos of Trump with several women whose faces are redacted and a suggestive note to Epstein, framed by the outline of a naked woman, which appears to bear Trump’s signature. Evidence and testimony submitted in the 2021 trial of Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell indicate Trump traveled on Epstein’s plane multiple times. Epstein wrote in one email that Trump “knew about the girls,” though it is not clear what he meant.

Trump has denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and says he broke off ties in the early 2000s, before Epstein’s plea deal. He denies ever flying on Epstein’s plane and says the suggestive note was faked.

    BILL CLINTON

The former U.S. president socialized with Epstein and flew on his plane several times in the early 2000s, after Clinton left office. Photos released by the Justice Department show him swimming and posing with women whose faces are redacted. Clinton has denied wrongdoing and says he regrets his past association with Epstein.

    ANDREW MOUNTBATTEN-WINDSOR

The former Prince Andrew, Duke of York, maintained a social relationship with Epstein and has been stripped of his royal title due to the association. The Justice Department sought his cooperation in multiple criminal investigations but was rebuffed. He also settled a lawsuit brought by one of Epstein’s victims in 2022, making an undisclosed payment without admitting wrongdoing. The Justice Department files include several photos of him with women, including one where he is kneeling over a woman and another showing him lying across the laps of several women.

Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has expressed regret for his friendship with Epstein. He has said he never saw any sex crimes.

    HOWARD LUTNICK

Trump’s Commerce Secretary apparently visited Epstein’s private island for lunch in 2012 and invited him to a fundraiser in 2015 for Hillary Clinton, Trump’s Democratic rival in the 2016 presidential election, emails show. That would contradict Lutnick’s claim that he vowed never to “be in a room” with Epstein following a 2005 incident in which the financier showed Lutnick a massage table at his townhouse and made a sexually suggestive comment. The former Cantor Fitzgerald CEO lived next door to Epstein in New York at the time. A Commerce Department spokesperson said Lutnick had limited interactions with Epstein and has never been accused of wrongdoing.

    ELON MUSK

The billionaire Tesla CEO asked Epstein if he had any parties planned on his island in 2012 but apparently decided not to visit. Epstein responded that “the ratio on my island” might make Musk’s female companion uncomfortable, without elaborating further. Musk invited Epstein to visit him for drinks on another island a few days later, but it is unclear whether they met up. Musk said on Saturday he had few interactions with Epstein and turned down repeated invitations to visit the island or fly on Epstein’s plane.

    LARRY SUMMERS

The former U.S. Treasury Secretary and Harvard University president flew on Epstein’s jet several times as far back as 1998 and met with him to discuss economic and business matters while he served as president of Harvard. The two maintained a relationship as late as 2019, when email communications show Summers soliciting advice about a romantic interest. No evidence of wrongdoing has surfaced, but Summers stepped down from positions at Harvard, OpenAI and other prominent institutions in November following the release of those documents.

Summers said in November he was “deeply ashamed” of his actions and said he would step back from public commitments to “repair relationships with the people closest to me.”

    KEVIN WARSH

Trump’s nominee to head the Federal Reserve appeared in an email from a publicist to Epstein listing 43 people, including celebrities such as Martha Stewart, headed to a Christmas gathering in 2010. It was not clear whether Warsh knew Epstein or why Epstein was sent the note, and Warsh has not yet responded to a request for comment.

    MELANIA TRUMP

The files include a 2002 email from Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, to Maxwell about a magazine piece on Epstein. “You look great,” the email says.

    BILL GATES

The documents indicate Gates and Epstein met repeatedly after Epstein’s prison term to discuss expanding the Microsoft founder’s philanthropic efforts. They also include pictures of the Microsoft founder posing with women whose faces are redacted. Gates has said the relationship was confined to philanthropy-related discussions and has said it was a mistake to meet with him.

    JES STALEY

The former JPMorgan and Barclays executive is listed as a participant in Epstein-hosted gatherings. He exchanged around 1,200 emails with Epstein between 2008 and 2012, some of which contained discussions about Disney characters and photographs of young women, according to court documents. Staley has denied knowing about Epstein’s criminal activities. He was banned from the UK financial industry and has been sued by JPMorgan, which claims he concealed information about Epstein’s misconduct.

    PETER MANDELSON

UK police said Monday they are reviewing reports of alleged misconduct involving the veteran British politician, whose name surfaced more than 5,000 times in the Justice Department files. He was fired as ambassador to the U.S. last year after emails came to light that showed him calling Epstein “my best pal” and advising him on seeking early jail release. Mandelson has apologized to Epstein’s victims. He has denied wrongdoing.

    PETER ATTIA

The wellness influencer’s name appears more than 1,700 times in the latest trove of documents released by the Justice Department. He said on social media he met with Epstein seven or eight times at his New York City home between 2014 and 2019, but never witnessed illegal activity or saw Epstein accompanied by anyone who appeared to be underage.
