    By Brie Stimson

Trump says US ‘doing very well’ in Iran nearly 1 week into joint action against Tehran

Iranian army, navy and communications are ‘gone’: president

    By Brie Stimson
    Fox News

    Published March 6, 2026 8:38pm EST

President Donald Trump on Friday said the U.S. is “doing very well” in Iran, nearly a week after the military coordinated with Israel on airstrikes in Tehran that left its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, dead.

“Somebody said, ‘How would you score it from zero to 10?’ I said, ‘I’d give it a 12 to a 15.’ Their army is gone. Their navy is gone. Their communications are gone. Their leaders are gone,” Trump said. “Two sets of their leaders.”

The president made the remarks after Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked at the end of a White House college sports roundtable what was motivating Trump to hold the roundtable “because there is a lot of other stuff going on in the world.”

“That’s right,” Trump agreed, adding that Iran’s air force has been “wiped out entirely. Think of it. They have 32 ships. All 32 are at the bottom of the ocean. Other than that, they’re doing very well.”

“Our military is doing phenomenally,” he said. “The situation with a very bad and very sick group of leaders who were killing a lot of people. A lot of our people were being killed or were being maimed. … And we had a choice. We could take it and go on like that for years or do something about it. And we did something about it.”

Trump added that “people are very impressed with our military, and they admire our military with what happened in Venezuela, what’s happening now, what’s happened with the B-2 bombers before this, where they took out the nuclear capability or potential of Iran.

“I think we’re, right now, we’re a country that’s more respected than we’ve ever been respected before.”

Doocy also told the president earlier, “It sounds like the Russians are helping Iran target and attack Americans now.”

“That’s an easy problem compared to what we’re doing here,” Trump said, referring to college sports, calling it a “stupid question to be asking at this time. We’re talking about something else.”

Earlier Friday, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the U.S. won’t accept any deal with Iran “except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”

“After that, and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before,” Trump wrote.

“IRAN WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE. ‘MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!).’”

Alex Nikitenko/Global Images Ukraine via Getty Images

U.S. turns to Ukraine for drone defense expertise in Iran war, but solutions may take time

    March 6, 2026 / 3:21 PM EST / CBS News

A week into the U.S.’s war in Iran, American drone expert Brett Velicovich joined Fox News anchor Jesse Watters to tout the role of advanced American drone defense technology used in the operation. In the split-screen beside him, footage of air defenses downing Iranian Shahed drones appeared to underscore his point.

Except they weren’t American air defenses.

“Hi @FoxNews — small clarification,” Wild Hornets, a Ukrainian drone company, wrote on X. “The footage shown in this segment features STING — a Ukrainian interceptor drone developed by engineers at Wild Hornets and used by Ukrainian air defense units to destroy Shahed-type drones.”

The mixup drew renewed attention to both Ukraine’s drone expertise and to America’s lack of drone defense preparedness, as Iran’s aerial bombardment depletes interceptor stockpiles across the Middle East.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Thursday that Ukraine will work with the Pentagon and Gulf allies to share what it has learned during four years of drone warfare. And a spokesman for Wild Hornets, the Ukrainian drone company, confirmed to CBS News that it is “ready to help Ukraine’s strategic partners if called upon to do so.”

But experts say solutions will take time.

“It has taken Ukraine an extremely long-time to get their high interception rates,” Robert Tollast, a drone expert at the Royal United Services Institute, told CBS News. “There is no off-the-shelf solution that you can just buy. Building a layered system of air defense is more resource-intensive, and it takes time to build that technology into your security forces.”

    Cost mismatch

Just days into the war in Iran, Arab states in the Persian Gulf were already running low on interceptors, two regional officials confirmed to CBS News on Wednesday. At the core of the problem was a cost mismatch between expensive interceptors used to shoot down comparatively cheap Iranian drones. The Pac-3 Patriot air defense missiles used by many of America’s Gulf allies costs around $12 million to produce, while an Iranian Shahed drone costs $50,000.

On Wednesday, Zelenskyy announced that the Pentagon and America’s Gulf allies were seeking Ukraine’s expertise to solve the problem.

“We received a request from the United States for specific support in protection against ‘shaheds’ in the Middle East region. I gave instructions to provide the necessary means and ensure the presence of Ukrainian specialists who can guarantee the required security,” Zelenskyy said on X, noting in an earlier post that “Iranian attack drones are the same ‘shaheds’ that have been striking our cities, villages, and our Ukrainian infrastructure throughout this war.”

Ukraine is particularly well-suited to advise on more cost-effective solutions to bring down drones, as it has often lacked more expensive Western air defense systems throughout its war. Zelenskyy noted in a press briefing this week that the 800 Patriot air defense missiles used by Gulf states to intercept Iranian missiles and drones has already surpassed the total number of Patriot missiles provided to Ukraine during its four-year war with Russia.

Kyiv has instead invested in a layered system of missile interceptors, drone interceptors, heavy machine guns, and planes that take down Russian drones. The military’s drone interceptors, which include Wild Hornets’ Sting drones, cost as little as $2,500 — significantly less expensive than the anti-aircraft missiles used across the Middle East.

“Everyone can now see that Ukraine’s experience in defense is, in many respects, irreplaceable,” Zelenskyy said on X. “We are ready to share this experience and help those nations that helped Ukraine this winter and throughout this war.”

    Long-term cooperation, no quick fix

Even as Ukraine deploys its expertise to the Middle East, collaboration is more likely to take the form of long-term partnerships rather than rapid remedies to the current shortages America’s Gulf allies face.

Solutions, experts say, are just as much about tactics and knowledge-sharing as they are about deploying particular technology.

“There is not a single magic bullet, one interceptor drone, that is able to take down these drones,” Deborah Fairlamb, founder of Ukraine-based defense venture capital firm Green Flag Ventures, told CBS News. “Within Ukraine, it is a multi-layered defense that they use starting all the way from the border with Russia and are able to track in.”

Even for Wild Hornets’ Sting drones — which have downed 3,900 drones over Ukraine since May 2025 — making an impact in the Middle East would take time.

“We can train an experienced pilot on our drones in three days,” Alex Roslin, a spokesman for Wild Hornets, told CBS News. “But that does not mean that a Ukrainian or U.S. drone pilot can come and they are knocking down Shahed drones in three days. It is about building teams and creating an integrated network of air defense, and how to work with tactical radar units and other teams.”

Experts stress that transferring this expertise on drone defense, in particular, is more difficult than other aspects of warfighting.

“The principle of drone attacks is that it is forcing you to defend everywhere all the time. You need light mobile defenses, you need radars, you need very different types of maneuverable defenses against cheap drones,” Tollast said.

Still, Ukraine’s drone-makers remain prepared to help America’s Gulf allies as long as they are clear-eyed about the long timetable in store.

“If a partnership was created by the Ukrainian government, we are 1000% ready to fill those needs,” Roslin said. “But passing along that entire body of knowledge, you can imagine how complex that will be.”

US signals readiness to escort tankers through Hormuz as traffic thins, but no mission has been launched

Trump and Energy Secretary Chris Wright signal possible Navy escorts in the Strait of Hormuz as tanker traffic slows, though none are underway

    By Morgan Phillips
    Fox News
    Published March 6, 2026 3:54pm EST

Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the U.S. Navy could begin escorting commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz “as soon as reasonable,” reinforcing President Donald Trump’s public statements that the United States is prepared to protect energy shipments through the strategic waterway.

But a U.S. official told Fox News Digital that American forces are not currently escorting ships through the Strait and declined to speculate on future operations, making clear that no convoy mission has yet been launched.

“As soon as it’s reasonable to do it, we’ll escort ships through the straits and get the energy moving again,” Wright said on “Fox and Friends” Friday.

The renewed signaling comes as commercial traffic through the strait has thinned sharply after attacks on tankers and soaring war-risk insurance costs, raising pressure on global energy markets and Gulf producers that rely on the narrow corridor for oil and liquefied natural gas exports.

Only nine oil tankers, cargo ships and container ships have crossed the strait since Monday, according to MarineTraffic data analyzed by Agence France-Presse after three vessels were attacked over the weekend.

At least three tankers and a vessel carrying gas have transited the choke point since the strikes, according to Agence France-Presse.

The Strait of Hormuz normally handles roughly 20% of the world’s crude oil and about one-fifth of global liquefied natural gas exports, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, making even a temporary disruption a serious concern for global energy markets and Gulf producers that rely on the passage to move supplies to Asia and Europe.

Several commercial vessels have been struck since the start of Operation Epic Fury, heightening security concerns for shipowners and insurers. Industry analysts say war-risk premiums have surged, and some coverage has become difficult to secure, prompting tankers to anchor outside the Strait rather than risk transit.

Despite the political signaling about potential naval protection, the U.S. military has not confirmed any escort operation.

A U.S. official told Fox News Digital Friday, “We are not escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz, and we will not speculate on future operations.”

The gap between policy signaling and operational execution underscores the delicate balance Washington faces. Escort missions would require U.S. warships to operate in close proximity to Iran’s coastline in a narrow and heavily surveilled waterway, increasing the risk of direct confrontation.

Iran, for its part, has stopped short of declaring a closure of the strait while leaving the door open to escalation.

Iran has “no intention” of closing the Strait “right now,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with NBC News Thursday.

“As the war continues, we will consider every scenario.”

Araghchi also suggested commercial ships were avoiding the passage out of fear of being struck “by either side” and said international oil tankers were not targets for Iran.

Even without a formal closure, the measurable reduction in ship traffic is placing real pressure on global markets and Gulf economies. Crude prices have risen amid concerns that prolonged disruption could tighten supply, particularly for Asian buyers dependent on Gulf exports.

Trump has publicly downplayed concerns about rising gasoline prices in the United States.

“They’ll drop very rapidly when this is over, and if they rise, they rise, but this is far more important than having gasoline prices go up a little bit,” he told Reuters.

The administration’s posture suggests it is prepared to tolerate short-term energy price volatility while signaling readiness to intervene militarily if commercial shipping cannot resume safely on its own.

For now, however, the Strait of Hormuz remains open but under strain, a critical artery of the global economy operating in a climate of active attacks, rising insurance costs and escalating rhetoric between Washington and Tehran.

史蒂夫·维特科夫(Steve Witkoff)披露的与伊朗谈判细节及伊朗对其核计划的 boastsful remarks( boastsful remarks 直译为” boastsful remarks”,此处根据语境译为”炫耀言论”),似乎在联合国核机构那里被置若罔闻。

While UN issues mixed signals, Witkoff exposes Tehran’s nuclear evasion ‘pride’ | Fox News

By Beth Bailey | Fox News
    Published March 6, 2026 5:32pm EST

The stunning details revealed by Steve Witkoff on his talks with Iran and their boastful remarks about its nuclear program have seemingly fallen on deaf ears at the U.N. nuclear agency.

Days into the U.S.-Israel joint campaign against Iran, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi posted to X stating, “There has been no evidence of Iran building a nuclear bomb.”

Fox News Digital asked the IAEA how it could assess the development of a possible nuclear weapon without access to Iran’s facilities but received no response at press time.

Grossi’s post came as the U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff gave details to Fox News’ Sean Hannity earlier this week on his talks with the regime prior to the U.S. and Israel launching their military operation against Tehran.

Witkoff revealed the negotiators said they had an “inalienable right” to enrich uranium. When Witkoff countered that the Trump administration had the “inalienable right to stop [them, ]” he explained that the negotiators said this was only their starting point.

“They have 10,000, roughly, kilograms of fissionable material that’s broken up into roughly 460 kilograms of 60% enriched uranium, another 1,000 kilograms 20% enriched uranium,” Witkoff explained. “They manufacture their own centrifuges to enrich this material, so there’s almost no stopping them. They have an endless supply of it. The 60% material can be brought to 90% – that’s weapon grade — in roughly one week, maybe 10 days at the outside. The 20% can be brought to weapons grade inside of three to four weeks.”

Witkoff added that during his first meeting with the negotiators, they said “with no shame that they controlled 460 kilograms of 60% and they’re aware that that could make 11 nuclear bombs, and that was the beginning of this negotiating stance.”

“They were proud of it. They were proud that they had evaded all sorts of oversight protocols to get to a place where they could deliver 11 nuclear bombs,” Witkoff said.

Grossi, who is running to become the next United Nations secretary general, did however admit in his post on X that Iran maintains “a large stockpile of near-weapons grade enriched uranium” and said that the Islamic Republic has not allowed inspectors full access to its program. With these facts in mind, he said that the IAEA “will not be in a position to provide assurance that Iran’s nuclear programme is exclusively peaceful” until Iran “assists…in resolving the outstanding safeguards issues.”

Richard Goldberg, a senior advisor to the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, FDD, told Fox News Digital, “No one paid much attention to Rafael Grossi throughout the Biden years when he repeatedly warned publicly that Iran was refusing to cooperate with and providing false statements to the IAEA about ongoing investigations into undeclared facilities, activists and nuclear material.”

PHYSICIST LAWMAKER WARNS US LACKS CLEAR PLAN FOR IRAN’S ENRICHED URANIUM

The former Trump administration official said, “There are some key facts being ignored today. The IAEA board last year found Iran to be in breach of the NPT. To this day, Grossi has confirmed that the IAEA cannot verify the Iranian nuclear program is peaceful.”

He continued, “This is not Iraq where we lacked hard public evidence of a nuclear weapons program. Iran had built out nearly every part of its nuclear weapons program in plain sight, with the weaponization work moving forward at undeclared sites controlled by SPND. If the administration had evidence the regime was moving quickly to reconstitute key elements of that program — from advanced centrifuge manufacturing to completion of a new underground enrichment site alongside advancement of delivery vehicle programs – the president was fully justified in enforcing a red line he set after Operation Midnight Hammer.”

Spencer Faragasso, a senior fellow at the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS), told Fox News Digital that his organization calculated prior to the June 2025 12 Day War that Iran possessed 440.9 kilograms of 60% rich uranium. With about 24 or 25 kilograms of 90% rich uranium required per weapon, Faragasso said the country possessed the ability to produce 11 weapons in one month.

Faragasso said that there remain questions about whether the Iranians can access their enriched materials, and whether they possess additional centrifuges that may have not been installed in the facilities that were struck.

US EMBASSY URGES AMERICANS IN IRAQ TO SHELTER IN PLACE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

“Being able to enrich the uranium up to weapon grade is actually a tall order,” he said, explaining that it would require a new enrichment site and components and materials that “Iran would either need to recover from its destroyed facilities” or “illicitly import them from abroad.” With a few hundred centrifuges, enough for two or three cascades, Faragasso said the Iranians could have enriched their uranium stores to weapon grade.

“To be clear, the successes gained from the June war are not permanent and officials from the regime spoke publicly about how they wanted to reconstitute their enrichment program, their nuclear program,” he said. “The more time that goes on, the worse the situation will get. It’s not going to get better, especially regarding the ballistic missile program.”

He said the Iranians had previously expressed the desire to open a fourth enrichment site, which the IAEA stated was at Esfahan. According to Faragasso, there was “never confirmation” of where the site was or how far along construction may have been.

The group is now tracking an Israeli strike on March 3 on Min-Zadayi, a site that Faragasso said “was completely unknown” to them previously. The Israel Defense Forces reported on X that the site was “used by a group of nuclear scientists who operated to develop a key component for nuclear weapons.”

The State Department referred Fox News Digital to remarks made by Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the press on Tuesday on Iran’s nuclear program.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP

“This terroristic, radical, cleric-led regime cannot be ever allowed to have nuclear weapons.” Explaining that the Islamic Republic was “willing to slaughter their own people in the streets,” Rubio directed members of the press to “imagine what they would do to us.Imagine what they would do to others. Under President Trump that will never, ever happen,” he said.

Anthropic is tracking which jobs are most exposed to AI. These 10 professions top the list.

    March 6, 2026 / 3:47 PM EST / CBS News

Anthropic, the maker of the AI chatbot Claude, says it has built an early warning system to track which U.S. jobs are most exposed to artificial intelligence — and its initial findings suggest many white-collar roles sit near the front lines.

The company’s new research comes as fears mount that AI is taking work away from young job-seekers. Older white-collar workers are fretting about their long-term job security in the face of ever-capable generative AI tools and recent layoffs from corporations such as Amazon and Block that have cited AI.

Anthropic’s researchers tracked the gap between AI’s capabilities and how the technology is actually being used by workers across professions. The analysis found “limited evidence that AI has affected employment to date.”

Early fears that AI is responsible for rising joblessness among young college grads may also be overblown, the researchers said, noting only “suggestive evidence that hiring of younger workers has slowed in exposed occupations.”

But despite the finding that AI has so far had little measurable impact on the labor market, the researchers said the technology could eventually have a seismic effect on many professions, from lawyers to sales reps.

    Most exposed occupations

To determine a job’s exposure, Anthropic compared AI’s ability to perform specific tasks with how common those tasks are across professions.

Jobs are made up of many tasks, with some of them easily replaced by AI, while others are difficult to replace. Take teaching, where an AI chatbot could grade homework but wouldn’t be able to manage a classroom of children, the researchers noted.

Anthropic said a job’s “exposure” is based on the percentage of its tasks that artificial intelligence could potentially speed up or help perform.

These are the 10 professions Anthropic identified as most exposed to AI:

    1. Computer programmers: 75%
    2. Customer service reps: 70%
    3. Data entry keyers: 67%
    4. Medical record specialists: 67%
    5. Market research analysts and marketing specialists: 65%
    6. Sales reps: 63%
    7. Financial and investment analysts: 57%
    8. Software quality assurance analysts: 52%
    9. Information security analysts: 49%
    10. Computer user support specialists: 47%

Professions that are considered to be more “exposed” to artificial intelligence are projected to grow more slowly through 2034, Anthropic found, citing data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Workers in these professions are more likely to be “older, female, more educated and higher-paid,” Anthropic researchers noted. That aligns with previous research that found women-dominated occupations are deeply vulnerable to AI, such as administrative assistants and clerks.

The least exposed occupations tend to require physical abilities. Jobs such as groundskeepers, cooks, motorcycle mechanics, lifeguards and bartenders ranked among those with the lowest exposure.
