马来西亚吉兰丹州“Makar Fest XL”的主办方因违反丹州娱乐活动准则，允许现场男女观众混杂并随音乐跳动，被丹州政府处以3万令吉（约1万1400新元）罚款，8000令吉保证金也被没收。

据《阳光日报》报道，活动主办方上周六（1月31日）在哥打峇鲁举行闭幕音乐会，有人看到现场男女混杂，还跳舞和蹦跳。

丹州负责地方政府、房屋、卫生及环境事务的州部长希尔米阿都拉星期二（2月3日）发声明说，当局在审查一份报告及一段在社交媒体疯传的视频后作出惩处决定。

他说，这场于1月29日至31日在超市停车场举行的三天美食促销展，事先获得哥打峇鲁市政局根据《2025年吉兰丹州娱乐及娱乐场所管制条例》批准，“但批准条件要求活动必须完全遵守《2025年吉兰丹州娱乐及体育活动准则》”。

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have agreed to sit for depositions with the House Oversight Committee after months of legal and political gridlock regarding their ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be deposed by the House Oversight Committee at the end of this month.

Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., announced Hillary Clinton will sit for a closed-door transcribed interview on Feb. 26, and Bill Clinton will appear on Feb. 27 under the same terms.

Both interviews will be filmed, Comer’s press release said.

It comes after weeks of back-and-forth between the former first couple and the House GOP-led committee about whether they would testify in the chamber’s probe into Jeffrey Epstein, and under what terms.

The Clintons were both facing contempt of Congress votes in the House this week if they did not agree to come to Capitol Hill for in-person interviews with the Oversight Committee.

Those votes were likely to succeed as well. Late last month, nine Democrats on the House Oversight Committee joined all Republicans in voting to advance Bill Clinton’s contempt of Congress resolution to a House-wide vote. Three Democrats voted to advance the resolution against Hillary Clinton.

A contempt of Congress vote would refer both Clintons to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for criminal prosecution.

A contempt of Congress conviction is a misdemeanor that carries a maximum fine of $100,000 and up to a year in jail.

“Republicans and Democrats on the Oversight Committee have been clear: no one is above the law — and that includes the Clintons. After delaying and defying duly issued subpoenas for six months, the House Oversight Committee moved swiftly to initiate contempt of Congress proceedings in response to their non-compliance,” Comer said in a statement.

“Once it became clear that the House of Representatives would hold them in contempt, the Clintons completely caved and will appear for transcribed, filmed depositions this month. We look forward to questioning the Clintons as part of our investigation into the horrific crimes of Epstein and Maxwell, to deliver transparency and accountability for the American people and for survivors.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Bill Clinton’s spokesman for comment.

The Clintons were two of 10 people subpoenaed for testimony before the committee as it probes the federal government’s handling of Epstein’s case. So far just two people subpoenaed by the committee, former Attorney General Bill Barr and ex-Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, have appeared in person.

Their attorneys wrote to Comer last month calling his subpoenas legally invalid and a violation of separation of powers, arguments the Kentucky Republican rejected.

“President and Secretary Clinton have already provided the limited information they possess about Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to the Committee. They did so proactively and voluntarily, and despite the fact that the Subpoenas are invalid and legally unenforceable, untethered to a valid legislative purpose, unwarranted because they do not seek pertinent information, and an unprecedented infringement on the separation of powers,” the letter read.

The two sides then went back-and-forth discussing various terms as Comer continued to forge ahead with contempt proceedings.

Comer twice rejected offers for himself and Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., the top Democrat on the committee, to travel to New York with limited staff to interview Bill Clinton.

Meanwhile, Democrats had accused Comer of pursuing the contempt charges for political motivations rather than to get closure for Epstein’s victims.

Bill Clinton was known to have a friendship with Epstein before his federal criminal charges and is among many high-profile names to appear in the trove of files being released on the late pedophile by the DOJ. But there has been no implication of wrongdoing by either of the Clintons as it relates to Epstein.

With a looming vote that could have set up an unprecedented criminal prosecution, the Clintons’ attorneys wrote to the committee on Monday, “my clients accept the terms of your letter and will appear for depositions on mutually agreeable dates. As has been the Committee’s practice, please confirm the House will not move forward with contempt proceedings, as the Chairman stated in his letter this morning.”

US homebuilders working on plan to develop as many as 1 million ‘Trump Homes,’ Bloomberg News reports | Reuters

Feb 3 (Reuters) – Homebuilders are working on a proposal to develop nearly a million “Trump Homes” that would address the U.S. affordability crisis, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday.

This calls for builders to sell entry-level homes into a pathway-to-ownership program allowing private capital funding of billions of dollars, Bloomberg News reported, citing sources familiar with the proposal.

Shares of U.S. homebuilders, including Lennar LEN.N, D.R. Horton DHI.N, Pultegroup PHM.N, Toll Brothers TOL.N, Taylor Morrison Home TMHC.N and KB Home KBH.N, were up between 5-7% during early trading hours.

Lennar declined to comment, while the other homebuilders and the White House did not immediately respond to Reuters’ requests for comment.

The proposal comes at a time when U.S. consumers continue to face affordability challenges in an inflationary macro environment, dampening home sales across the country.

At the 1 million homes estimate, the program would likely deliver more than $250 billion worth of housing.

However, a White House official told Bloomberg News that the administration is not actively considering the plan.

Such a program would be complicated to implement and it’s possible that it won’t gain enough support to move forward, Bloomberg News reported.

Last month, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order to restrict large institutional investors from competing with individual homebuyers in an effort to make housing more affordable.

新华社报道，隆德大学日前发布新闻公报说，“间期癌”是指女性一次筛查结果正常后，到下一次计划筛查之前这段时间里被诊断出的乳腺癌。由于这类癌症通常更具侵袭性，“间期癌”发生率被视为衡量筛查有效性的重要指标之一。

这项AI辅助乳腺X光筛查研究共有约10.6万名40岁至74岁的瑞典女性参与，随访两年多。参与者接受常规乳腺X光检查。差异主要体现在影像解读环节：对照组采用传统流程，由乳腺放射科医生阅片；AI辅助组则引入AI进行影像判读，并由医生复核。

结果显示，与传统方法相比，AI辅助筛查在提高效率的同时提升了检出表现：可使医生阅片工作量减少44%，乳腺癌检出率提高29%。同时，AI辅助组的“间期癌”病例较对照组减少12%。研究还指出，在AI辅助筛查后仍出现的“间期癌”中，病情较重的比例也更低。

研究人员说，AI辅助不仅提高了筛查“敏感性”，即更不容易漏检癌症，且并未增加“假阳性”。“假阳性”是指女性因筛查结果阳性进一步检查，但最终并未确诊乳腺癌的情况，这可能带来不必要的焦虑和医疗负担。

研究人员指出，上述结果进一步支持AI辅助乳腺筛查在临床应用中的安全性、准确性与效率。该技术已在瑞典部分地区以及欧洲其他地区开始应用。随着证据积累，相关方法有望在开展乳腺癌筛查的国家产生更广泛影响。

相关研究成果已发表于英国医学期刊《柳叶刀》。

Lindsey Vonn says she plans to compete in Olympics despite ACL injury

Lindsey Vonn confirmed Tuesday that she plans to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy despite rupturing her left anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, in a crash last week.

Vonn, 41, said in a press briefing that she was still planning to compete, even though her chances at ending up on the podium were diminished. Vonn said she had done a gone skiing before the briefing and was happy that she was “in a position to even try” the exercise.

Vonn said she was also diagnosed with bone bruising, which she said is common with an ACL tear, and “some meniscal damage,” though doctors are not sure if those injuries were “pre-existing or from the crash.”

“I had a feeling it was bad, but I held out hope until I saw the MRI in front of me,” Vonn said. “But I haven’t cried. I haven’t deviated from my plan. Normally, in the past, there’s always a moment where you break down and you realize the severity of things and that your dreams are slipping through your fingers. But I didn’t have that this time. I’m not letting this slip through my fingers. I’m gonna do it. End of story.”

Vonn is set to compete in the women’s downhill on Sunday, Feb. 8. She said in the news briefing she would wear a brace for the race.

Vonn was also planning on competing in super-G and the new team combined event. If she wins a medal, she will be the oldest alpine skier to do so at the Winter Olympics. Previously, Vonn has won three Olympic medals: Gold in downhill and bronze in super-G in 2010, and bronze in downhill in 2018.

Vonn had been landing a jump in a World Cup race on Friday when she lost control and ended up tangled in safety nets on the upper portion of the course. She received medical attention and walked away from the crash site, but was seen avoiding putting weight on her left leg. Vonn confirmed the injury was in her left knee on Tuesday.

Two other racers crashed on the same course earlier in the day. The race was cancelled after Vonn’s crash. One racer said visibility was a problem and that the course was bumpy.

Vonn has been the circuit’s leading downhiller this season with two victories and three podium finishes.

Vonn’s races and Olympic participation come after a five-year retirement. She is skiing with titanium implants in her right knee. After her injury, she posted on Instagram that her “Olympic dream is not over.” Vonn echoed that sentiment again Tuesday.

“This isn’t my first rodeo. It’s hard for me to lose faith in myself and what I know I’m capable of. I know my body very well. I have a high degree of confidence in myself, and it doesn’t matter to me if everyone thinks maybe I can’t do this with no ACL, but I still believe in myself and that makes me smile. That makes me confident, that makes me happy.”

Women’s skiing at the Olympics will be held in Cortina d’Ampezzo, where Vonn holds the record of 12 World Cup wins.

香港巴士乘客强制佩戴安全带的新法例是在1月25日正式实施，港府连日来大事宣传新法，却引起很多乘客不满，认为带来不便。事件过后有出人意表的发展，身为律师的立法会前议员江玉欢上周在社交媒体发文，指新法例列明有关措施只适用于今年1月25日或之后首次登记的新巴士。该日之前首次登记的现役旧巴士，乘客不佩戴安全带也不违法。

由于法例条文与港府的宣传及警方的执法不吻合，港府运输及物流局局长陈美宝上周五（1月30日）召开记者会，表示有关巴士乘客安全带佩戴的法律条文“在技术上有不足之处，未能完全反映立法原意”，宣布暂缓执行并删除条文。

据香港《信报》报道，港府会在完善法律条文后再征询立法会，并重新推出新法。但对于当局打算重新实施备受争议的强制系安全带规例，不少议员的态度有极大保留。有议员认为港府这次错有错着，应顺水推舟，调整原本的强制系安全带要求，甚至无限期搁置立法。

中央港澳办主任夏宝龙上月在全国港澳研究会专题研讨会上发表讲话，指出香港实施行政主导，立法会要发挥好作用，“要同唱一台戏，要多补台，不能拆台”。这次的“安全带之乱”引起香港社会热议，质疑立法会把关不力。

香港立法会前主席范徐丽泰星期二（2月3日）在《明报》撰文，对立法会议员履职提出三点看法，包括：应成为政府与市民之间的桥梁、善用质询及无法律效力的议案辩论，以及重视审议条例草案。

范徐丽泰说，议员应向市民解释政府的政策和法案，再把收集到的民意向政府反映；在审议条例草案的过程中，须逐个考虑各方面意见，达成大家都可接受亦可行的方案。她强调需要平衡各方利益，使条文符合订立条例的初心，并能行之有效。

香港中文大学政务与政策科学学院讲师孔永乐接受《联合早报》访问时指出，立法会议员在审议条例草案过程中，发现新法例在实际执行过程中可能面对问题时，有责任在议会内提出修订。这也是立法会议员发现民意、听取民意，最终向政府表达民意及改善民生福利的过程。

他表示，这起风波反映日后香港立法会议员与市民见面交流时，不但要聆听市民对民生经济各方面的意见，也应多了解他们对即将实施的新法例是否关注及有所忧虑。此外，立法会议员要加强对政策议题的相关研究，确保政策实施后能为整体社会带来更多益处。

The massive renovations at the Trump-Kennedy Center that are expected to shutter Washington’s premier performing arts venue for two years will focus on correcting deferred maintenance — including overhauling its heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems and fixing its broken elevators, Fox News Digital learned.

“In less than 1 year, Trump has balanced the budget, raised over $130 million from donors, and secured $257 million from Congress,” Vice President of Public Relations Roma Daravi said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “We are financially stable yet the building is still physically in trouble.”

“Decades of gross negligence left this institution with a broken budget, $100 million operating deficit, $26 million bottom-line deficit, and $250 million of deferred maintenance needs,” she continued.

President Donald Trump announced Sunday that the venue would close July 4, which coincides with America 250 celebrations honoring the nation’s semiquincentennial anniversary of the U.S. founding.

“If we don’t close, the quality of Construction will not be nearly as good, and the time to completion, because of interruptions with Audiences from the many Events using the Facility, will be much longer. The temporary closure will produce a much faster and higher quality result!” Trump said on Truth Social Sunday, explaining why the complex needs to shutter for two years.

A Trump-Kennedy official told Fox News Digital that the complex, which first opened in 1971, has suffered decades of neglect by former leadership that has left the building in “extremely poor condition.”

The official described the renovations as “a restoration and beautification project,” that will include updating its broken elevators, updating its HVAC system and taking on $250 million in maintenance issues that the official said were ignored by previous leadership.

Presidents historically have played direct roles in Kennedy Center governance, appointing most of the institution’s board of trustees to six-year terms under federal law. Trump appointed a new board in 2025, which then elected him their chairman.

The official said the Trump-Kennedy Center would simply not survive if the maintenance was not done.

Trump said Monday that the renovations will cost an estimated $200 million while underscoring the building is not being torn down.

“I’m not ripping it out,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “I’ll be using the steel. So we’re using the structure.”

“We’re using some of the marble, and some of the marble comes down, but when it’s open, it’ll be brand new and really beautiful,” he said. “We’re going to have all brand-new air conditioning, heating.”

Daravi continued in a statement provided to Fox News Digital that the temporary closure for an “intensive restoration and beautification project” is “the most logical choice to allow for comprehensive renovations, efficient project completion, and responsible use of taxpayer dollars.”

“With President Trump’s proven record of delivering projects under budget and ahead of schedule, the finished Center will reflect the true beauty of America,” she added. “The short-term inconvenience of a temporary closure will result in a revitalized cultural landmark built to serve generations to come.”

Ambassador Richard Grenell serves as the Trump-Kennedy Center’s president and praised Trump and Congress for appropriating $257 million for the renovations. He added that leadership is not only focused on saving the center from ruin, but to “make it the finest Arts Institution in the world.”

“It desperately needs this renovation and temporarily closing the Center just makes sense – it will enable us to better invest our resources, think bigger and make the historic renovations more comprehensive,” Grenell said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. “It also means we will be finished faster. President Trump has a reputation for delivering large construction projects on time, under budget and beautifully finished.”

The renovations come after the center’s board of trustees unanimously voted to rename it “The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts” in December 2025.

The name change set off swift rebuke among Democrats, with nonvoting board members, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., and others claiming the move was illegal as it did not earn congressional approval ahead of time. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., introduced legislation in January that seeks to bar sitting presidents from putting their own names on federal buildings, linking it to the Trump-Kennedy Center name update.

“For Trump to put his name on federal buildings is arrogant, and it is illegal,” Sanders said in a press release last month. “We must put an end to this narcissism — and that’s what this bill does.”

The center said the board agreed Trump saved the institution from financial ruin during his second term.

Feb 3 (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump said his administration was seeking $1 billion from Harvard to settle probes into school policies, after a news report that said Trump had dropped his demand for a payment from the Ivy League school.

The Trump administration has been threatening to withhold federal funds from Harvard and several other universities over issues including pro-Palestinian protests against Israel’s war in Gaza, campus diversity and transgender policies.

“We are now seeking One Billion Dollars in damages, and want nothing further to do, into the future, with Harvard University,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post, without specifying how he arrived at that figure or what damages exactly he was referring to.

Trump’s post came in response to a New York Times report, citing sources, saying the Trump administration has dropped its demand for cash from Harvard in ongoing talks to strike a deal. Trump dismissed the report.

Trump officials and Harvard have engaged in months of talks. Trump said in September a deal was close and would involve a $500 million payment by Harvard. He said two weeks ago his administration may have reached a deal with the university in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Harvard did not respond to a Reuters request for comment.

NEW YORK TIMES DEFENDS STORY

In social media posts late Monday and Tuesday, Trump reprised his criticism of the New York Times and said the reporting on Harvard was not accurate.

The Times said its story was based on extensive reporting with multiple sources, including Trump administration officials.

“President Trump and the administration have demonstrated a pattern of criticizing accurate reporting that illuminates new facts about their efforts,” the Times said in a statement.

The government has settled its probes with some universities. Harvard sued the Trump administration last year and a judge later ruled the government had unlawfully terminated some grants for the university.

Protesters, including some Jewish groups, say the government wrongly equates criticism of Israel’s attacks on Gaza and its occupation of Palestinian territories with antisemitism, and advocacy for Palestinian rights with support for extremism.

Rights advocates have also raised concerns about free speech and academic freedom over Trump’s probes.

Several other Ivy League schools, including Columbia University and Brown University, have reached agreements with the administration and accepted certain government demands. Columbia agreed to pay more than $220 million to the government and Brown said it will pay $50 million to support local workforce development.

Blood found inside home of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, source says

A little bit of blood was found inside the Arizona home of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, whose disappearance is being investigated as a crime, a law enforcement source familiar with the case told CBS News.

It is unclear whose blood it is, but it is being tested. Investigators and analysts are combing through the house in search of clues to the 84-year-old’s disappearance.

Investigators believe that Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona, home in the middle of the night over the weekend, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told CBS News.

The sheriff dismissed the possibility that Guthrie, who lives alone, may have wandered away from her home because he said she doesn’t have any cognitive issues and her mobility is limited.

Authorities have been searching for Guthrie since Sunday. She was last seen at her home Saturday night, but no one knew she was missing until she didn’t show up for church the next morning, Nanos said.

Guthrie takes daily medication, adding additional urgency to the search.

Savannah Guthrie asked people on social media Monday to pray for her mother.

“Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant,” she said on Instagram. “Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. we need you.”

An official told CBS News that 88-Crime, an Arizona-based, non-profit program that works with law enforcement to help solve crimes, is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for “information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in the disappearance.”

Nancy Guthrie’s family has asked residents near her home to review their security footage from over the weekend, especially between the hours of 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Sunday. When CBS News asked Nanos about the time frame, he said the department is starting with a narrow window and will expand outward.

“Keep looking. You never know what you’ll see,” Nanos told CBS News. “Maybe it’s just a pair of headlights. But if you see something that just doesn’t seem right in that neighborhood, please let us know. We can come and download all your digital evidence and take a look at it ourselves.”
