US Secretary of War Haghesus told CBS that the military strike on Iran has “just begun”.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Haghesus said in an interview broadcast on CBS Sunday (March 8) that the military capabilities of the US and Israel are overwhelmingly superior to Iran’s, and the strike is being carried out on schedule.
He said that the US and Israel have air superiority and can use more conventional ammunition including heavy bombs to attack, “We haven’t even really started fighting this yet.”
Haghesus compared the military strike on Iran with past conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, saying that there were many “foolish” practices by the US in those wars, and this time will be different. He did not rule out the possibility of deploying US ground troops into Iran to carry out missions, claiming “we are willing to go to any necessary extent to achieve success.”
US President Trump declared on social media on the 6th that “there will be no deal with Iran unless Iran surrenders unconditionally”. Iranian President Pezeshkian said in a televised address broadcast on Iranian state television on the 7th that the US demanding Iran “unconditionally surrender” is “a fantasy they should take to their graves”.

美国战争部长赫格塞斯接受哥伦比亚广播公司（CBS）访问时称，对伊朗的军事打击行动“才刚刚开始”。
新华社报道，赫格塞斯在CBS星期天（3月8日）播出的访问中说，美国和以色列的军事能力与伊朗相比具有压倒性的优势，正按计划对伊朗实施打击。
他说，美以掌握制空权，可以使用包括重磅炸弹在内的更多常规弹药进行攻击，“我们甚至还没有真正展开这方面的作战”。
赫格塞斯将对伊朗的军事打击行动与过去在伊拉克和阿富汗的冲突进行了比较，称在那些战争中美方有许多“愚蠢”的做法，而这一次将会不同。他没有排除派遣美军地面部队进入伊朗执行任务的可能性，声称“为了取得成功，我们愿意走到任何必要的程度”。
美国总统特朗普6日在社交媒体上宣称，“与伊朗不会达成任何协议，除非伊朗无条件投降”。伊朗总统佩泽希齐扬在伊朗国家电视台7日播出的电视讲话中说，美国要求伊朗“无条件投降”是“他们应该带进坟墓的幻想”。
